    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Patch Notes

    The Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Weekend 2 begins today at 10 a.m. PT, following player feedback from the first beta weekend. The latest update introduces major changes to time-to-kill, spawn logic, movement, aim assist, killstreaks and more.

    Every weapon in the beta has been updated for Weekend 2, while additional changes target survivability, combat pacing and player choice. The update also includes new Multiplayer and Warzone content.

    Time-to-kill weapon changes

    After last week’s adjustments, the developers said time-to-kill still did not meet their intended target. Rather than changing base health, they tuned weapons to create a slight increase in effective time-to-kill without making guns feel too weak at longer ranges.

    These weapon changes are designed to provide greater survivability and more opportunities for skill expression during firefights. Further adjustments may follow based on beta feedback.

    Spawn logic and Hardpoint updates

    Spawn logic was adjusted during the final hours of Weekend 1 to better separate players across all respawn modes. The update also significantly reduces the frequency of spawning near squad members.

    Weekend 2 builds on those changes with a new Hardpoint spawn prototype intended to make spawns more consistent and predictable. Poor spawns may still occur on smaller maps, while players on larger maps may sometimes spawn too far from the action.

    • Updated spawn logic to better separate players.
    • Deprioritized spawning near teammates.
    • Partially improved the Hardpoint spawn system to increase predictability.
    • Added Battle Hardened to temporary spawn protection, reducing the effects of flash and concussion grenades immediately after spawning.
    • Temporarily disabled Hardpoint on Rooftops because of a spawn bug.

    Movement changes

    Tactical Sprint has been removed as a default movement option after extensive Weekend 1 feedback. The change is intended to improve combat pacing and give Modern Warfare 4 a more classic feel.

    Players who prefer a faster playstyle can now access Tactical Sprint through the Blood Rush Perk. Its sprint-to-fire penalty has been reduced, while Tactical Sprint and slide speeds have been adjusted to better balance the two movement options.

    Tactical Sprint

    • Moved Tactical Sprint to the Blood Rush Perk.
    • Reduced Tactical Sprint sprint-to-fire time to match base sprint.
    • Reduced Tactical Sprint speed by 4%.

    Sprint speeds

    • Increased base sprint speed for knives.
    • Increased base sprint speed for all pistols.

    Slide adjustments

    • Increased the delay between sliding and jumping.
    • Reduced slide distance by 10%.
    • Reduced slide speed by 9%.

    Traversal fixes

    • Fixed an issue that allowed players to mantle much higher than intended.
    • Fixed an issue that caused stutters when climbing ladders and pipes.

    Movement in Warzone remains similar to Multiplayer but is not identical, as many movement systems have been tuned specifically for Warzone gameplay. The latest Resurgence update provides additional details about Warzone changes in the Open Beta.

    Aim assist adjustments

    Aim assist has been adjusted for Weekend 2 to reduce its overall impact. The developers said the current tuning is not final and will continue to be refined ahead of launch.

    These aim assist changes are global and also apply to Warzone.

    Killstreak balance changes

    Killstreak spam was a major source of feedback during Weekend 1. Duplicated announcer callouts also made the issue feel worse during matches.

    The announcer bug has been fixed, and the base cost of every Killstreak has increased by one kill. The changes are intended to reduce Killstreak spam and keep matches focused on gunplay.

    • Increased all Killstreak costs by one kill.
    • Reduced UAV health by 60%.
    • Reduced UAV height by 12%.
    • Reduced the Artillery Beacon missile count from six to five.
    • Reduced the Artillery Beacon inner damage radius from 15.24 meters to 10.16 meters.
    • Reduced the outer damage radius from 25.4 meters to 17.78 meters.
    • Reduced the shockwave radius that knocks players down to 10.16 meters.

    Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta content

    Weekend 2 adds more content to Multiplayer, including the new Hijack mode, Ground War: Combat Outpost and two new Ground War maps. Players can also explore Lithium, a new 6v6 map.

    For the first time in a Call of Duty beta, players can enter Warzone through Resurgence on Zodiac, the new Resurgence map.

    Fable Will Officially Be 20 Hours Long, Xbox Confirms in New Interview

    At Gamescom 2026, Polygon learned how long it will take players to complete Fable, the upcoming RPG from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios. Unlike some role-playing games, Fable will not require hundreds of hours to finish unless players choose to spend significant time with its life simulation systems.

    How long is Fable’s main story?

    Fable will offer approximately 15 to 20 hours of main-story content, according to associate game director Will Kennedy. The game’s side quests and open-world exploration will provide another 15 to 20 hours of gameplay, while its life simulation features can keep players engaged indefinitely.

    “We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay,” associate game director Will Kennedy told Polygon. “And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want.”

    During the group Q&A, someone described Fable as “not a huge game” in response to Kennedy’s estimate. Craig Littler, another associate game director at Playground Games, clarified that the game’s optional systems could greatly extend the overall play time.

    “As Will just said, you can literally play it forever if that’s what you want to do,” Littler reiterated.

    That makes Fable an RPG designed to scale with the way each player approaches it. Those focused on the main story should be able to complete it relatively quickly, while players who explore Albion thoroughly, complete its side content and build relationships with its NPCs can spend considerably longer in the world.

    Fable will launch for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X on Feb. 27, 2027.

    Verizon’s chief marketing officer, Leslie Berland, called the partnership central to the launch of Verizon Dollars. The broader lesson is Tatum’s selectivity: she treated her first major deal as a brand decision rather than merely a payday, and the result reflects that strategy.

    What Season 8’s Marketing Moves Could Mean After the Reunion

    Taken together, these examples suggest that Season 8’s breakout stars understand a lesson earlier casts have not always mastered: attention has value only when it is converted into something durable.

    Moreno’s Substack, Tshnieder’s coffee-shop dunk tank and Tatum’s Warren Fu-directed advertising campaign have little in common on the surface. Each, however, represents a deliberate effort to build beyond the immediate news cycle rather than simply chase it.

    As the cast reunites Monday for the first time since the finale, the key question will be whether these early strategies develop into sustained careers—an outcome Love Island has historically struggled to produce—or simply raise the standard for the Islanders who follow them.

    Eagles Waive International Players Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru – NBC Sports Philadelphia

    The Philadelphia Eagles waived international prospects Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru on Sunday as the team trimmed its roster to the 53-man limit ahead of the 6 p.m. deadline.

    Bernard, who is from Nigeria, and Weru, who is from Kenya, were not included on the Eagles’ initial 53-man roster. The two players were the top prospects from this year’s NFL International Player Pathway program and showed flashes throughout training camp and the preseason.

    However, both players are still relatively new to American football and require additional development.

    “Those are our two exchange dudes,” defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said earlier this month. “They’re doing fine, but they’ve got a long way to go.”

    Eagles must now wait on waivers

    The Eagles have worked to keep expectations reasonable for Bernard and Weru as they learn the sport. Many expected Philadelphia to retain one or both players, but the team ultimately waived them.

    The next question is whether either prospect will return to the Eagles’ practice squad. Philadelphia can use its international exemption on only one player if Bernard and Weru clear waivers.

    The Eagles have already invested significant time and effort in developing both players, but waiving them creates the risk that another team will claim one of them.

    Philadelphia used a seventh-round pick on Bernard, a raw defensive tackle who impressed during the pre-draft process with his athletic ability. Weru is an edge rusher who was regarded as the second-best player in this year’s International Player Pathway class.

    Weru may have shown even more than Bernard during the summer and appeared closer to becoming an NFL contributor.

    Teammates embraced Bernard and Weru

    The Eagles’ entire roster welcomed Bernard and Weru throughout training camp.

    “I think the guys have really enjoyed getting to know these guys, and these guys work hard,” head coach Nick Sirianni said earlier this week. “Every day is something new with the guys, like this new stuff to learn, and it could be the smallest thing. I think it’s been a joy and there’s been a couple times where Uar has broken down the team and guys rally around that. I think that’s pretty cool.”

    Jessica Pegula Overcomes Nerves to Open US Open With Win Over Ruse

    Jessica Pegula and Marta Kostyuk made winning starts at the 2026 US Open on Sunday, earning an extra day of rest before their second-round matches.

    Pegula, one of the first players to compete at this year’s tournament, said starting on Sunday offered a mental advantage after her experience last year.

    “It is a little bit weird, but I did kind of enjoy that I could breathe for the next couple of days and everyone else is still freaking out about whether they’re going to win their first round,” she said.

    That early start can feel very different after a loss.

    “We were just talking about it, and I said it’s so nice to play on Sunday when you win. But if you lose it’s not nice, because you feel like the tournament didn’t even start and you’re out of it,” No. 11 seed Marta Kostyuk said.

    No. 3 seed Pegula defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-3, 6-2. The 2024 US Open runner-up said she felt nervous at the beginning, with a potential path to the world No. 1 ranking adding to the stakes.

    Pegula leads the women’s tour with 46 wins this season. She has won two titles and reached three additional finals. She can rise to No. 1 if she captures her first major championship and No. 2 Elena Rybakina loses before the semifinals.

    “I felt really nervous before I went out there, but I know my coaches were like, ‘You didn’t really look that nervous. We thought you played great,’” Pegula said.

    Pegula will next play Sofia Kenin, who defeated fellow American wild card Venus Williams 6-2, 7-6 (6). The match began at 12:13 a.m., making it the latest start to a match at the US Open.

    Kostyuk also advanced comfortably, beating Storm Hunter 6-4, 6-1. The victory gave Kostyuk a strong opening at the year’s final Grand Slam after she reached the semifinals at both the French Open and Wimbledon.

    Sunday winners at the US Open

    This was the second year featuring a Sunday start at the US Open, although several of the tournament’s biggest names will begin their campaigns Monday. Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka faces Camila Osorio, while former champions Naomi Osaka, Iga Swiatek and Sloane Stephens are also scheduled to play. Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova is on Monday’s schedule as well.

    Other winners Sunday included No. 9 seed Elina Svitolina, No. 19 Jasmine Paolini and No. 31 Leylah Fernandez, the 2021 US Open runner-up.

    No. 27 seed Barbora Krejcikova, a two-time Grand Slam singles champion, lost to Kamilla Rakhimova 7-6 (4), 6-2.

    Rain prevented seven matches from being completed. One men’s match was also delayed despite being played in the other stadium equipped with a retractable roof.

    Daniil Medvedev returns to Flushing Meadows hoping to rediscover his best form at the US Open, but the former champion offered a lighter insight into his family life when discussing his three-year-old daughter, Alisa.

    Medvedev jokes that daughter Alisa inherited his on-court personality

    The 2021 US Open champion is known for his sarcastic remarks and intense reactions during matches. Despite a difficult season, Medvedev smiled when asked about Alisa’s early attempts at tennis and whether she might follow him into the sport.

    Medvedev said he was surprised that Alisa already appears to share his on-court personality, even though he and his wife have never taught her to behave that way.

    “She has my personality on the court,” Medvedev told the press. “I’m not going to go into details, but she does have my personality on the court. And that’s where, when I see her, I’m like, maybe it’s a bit of genetics somewhere there.”

    The 30-year-old Russian has experienced several emotional moments on court. At last year’s US Open, he had a meltdown during his first-round loss to Benjamin Bonzi after a photographer walked onto the court.

    Earlier this year in Monte-Carlo, Medvedev smashed his racket several times after losing to Matteo Berrettini.

    The former World No. 1 said he would support Alisa if she genuinely enjoys tennis, while joking that coaching her could be difficult.

    “If she likes tennis, I would be completely up for it, but it’s going to be a very tough job for her coach and for her parents.”

    Medvedev family and 2025 US Open campaign

    Medvedev and his wife, Daria, married in 2018 after dating for four years. The couple have two daughters: Alisa, who was born in 2022, and Victoria, nicknamed Vika, who was born in 2025. Fellow Russian ATP player Andrey Rublev is Alisa’s godfather.

    Medvedev began the year strongly with a title run in Brisbane, becoming only the third active player to win 20 tour-level hard-court titles. He followed that success with an ATP 500 title in Dubai, then reached the final at Indian Wells and the semifinals in Rome.

    However, his season has also featured several early exits, including a first-round loss at Roland-Garros and a third-round defeat at Wimbledon. Most recently, he lost to Martin Damm in the opening round of Winston-Salem and jokingly questioned his future in tennis.

    “Maybe I should start a career in pickleball.”

    Medvedev won his only Grand Slam title at the US Open and has also finished runner-up there twice, in 2019 and 2023. He will begin this year’s tournament against France’s Hugo Gaston in the first round.

    Packers Acquire Running Back Kaleb Johnson at Cutdown Deadline

    The Green Bay Packers have added depth to their running back room by acquiring former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson in a trade on Sunday.

    Johnson, 23, was selected by the Steelers in the third round of last year’s NFL Draft after an All-American season at Iowa. However, he fell down Pittsburgh’s depth chart after the team signed Rico Dowdle and Travis Homer to support starter Jaylen Warren.

    As a rookie, Johnson recorded 28 carries for 69 yards, averaging 2.5 yards per attempt. That ranked third on the Steelers behind Warren and Kenneth Gainwell.

    Johnson finished fourth on Pittsburgh’s team in rushing yards last season. Tight end Jonnu Smith recorded nine carries for 70 yards and a touchdown, narrowly surpassing Johnson’s total.

    Smith, who previously played for Packers head coach Matt LaFleur when LaFleur was the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, signed with Green Bay earlier this week.

    Johnson also played 11 special-teams snaps across 10 games, including eight kickoff-return snaps on which he handled the ball. His special-teams experience appears to be largely limited to kickoff returns, a role that could go to wide receivers Skyy Moore and Savion Williams during the regular season. Johnson’s longest return last season went for 29 yards.

    The Steelers have not yet announced what compensation they will receive for Johnson, including whether the return will be a player or a draft pick.

    The Minnesota Vikings have settled their punting competition, with veteran Johnny Hekker reportedly released and rookie Brett Thorson winning the job.

    Thorson went undrafted out of Georgia after winning the Ray Guy Award last season as college football’s top punter. The Australian averaged 45.5 yards per punt in 2025.

    Johnny Hekker’s NFL career

    Hekker, 36, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time first-team All-Pro. He has played for the Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans.

    Thorson will replace Ryan Wright, who held Minnesota’s punting job from 2022 through 2025 before signing with the New Orleans Saints in free agency.

    Austin Wells hit two home runs during a nine-run eighth inning, Heliot Ramos launched a three-run homer in the fifth, and the New York Yankees strengthened their position in the American League wild-card race with a 16-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

    The win also clinched the Yankees’ season series against Boston and secured the head-to-head tiebreaker if the teams finish with identical records.

    Yankees break open scoreless game

    Wells opened the eighth inning with a home run against Jovani Moran before connecting on a 49.8 mph slider from infielder Andruw Monasterio for a three-run shot. It marked the seventh time in Yankees history that a player homered twice in one inning, making Wells the sixth Yankee to accomplish the feat.

    Wells became the first Yankees player to hit two home runs in one inning since Gleyber Torres did so against Pittsburgh on Sept. 21, 2022. Paul Goldschmidt also homered in the eighth, while Jose Caballero, starting at shortstop for rookie George Lombard Jr. because of right knee discomfort, hit a three-run homer off Monasterio’s 49 mph slider.

    New York took control of the scoreless game with a five-run fifth inning. Center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela’s glove was ruled to be on the grass when he caught Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s sinking liner, trapping the ball and turning the play into a hit. Boston challenged the ruling, but it was upheld.

    Goldschmidt followed two batters later with a two-run single against Ranger Suarez.

    Ramos delivers key hit for New York

    Ramos hit his first home run since the Yankees acquired him from San Francisco at the Aug. 3 trade deadline. It was also the outfielder’s first home run overall since July 20 and his first multihit game with New York.

    Yankees starter Will Warren improved to 9-6 after allowing Nick Sogard’s RBI single in the eighth inning among six hits over seven-plus innings.

    New York has won 10 of its past 14 games and scored a season-high 16 runs. The Yankees also collected 18 hits, their second-highest total of the season.

    Suarez allowed season highs of six runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings, while Monasterio surrendered five runs.
