Thousands of AT&T customers across the Houston area experienced service disruptions on Monday, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector. The spike in reports began early in the day, with users citing problems primarily with internet and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Scope of the Outage
Downdetector logged more than 6,000 AT&T problem reports nationwide by Monday afternoon. A significant portion of complaints involved the company’s 5G home internet service, along with broadband and Wi-Fi issues. The outage appeared to extend beyond Houston, with users in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin also reporting service problems.
Some customers reported difficulties accessing Google services — including Google Search, Gmail, and YouTube — though it was not immediately clear whether these issues were directly related to the AT&T network disruption or a separate incident. Google’s public status pages did not show a companywide incident as the reports spread.
Company Response
KHOU 11 News reached out for comment, and AT&T said its network was operating normally in the area. On the X account for AT&T Help, users continued to publicly report outages to the company throughout the day.
Downdetector’s data is based on user-submitted reports and does not independently confirm the cause or size of an outage. The exact number of affected Houston customers remained unclear as of Monday evening.
Service Restoration
By 6 p.m. Monday, Downdetector showed far fewer outage reports, suggesting service had largely been restored for most users.
Customers experiencing service issues can check AT&T’s official outage information page and restart equipment if advised by the company. Anyone needing to make an emergency call should try another available phone or location if their usual service is unavailable.
