    Wisconsin Dad Trips 9-Year-Old Football Player During Touchdown Run Before Police Discover Why

    A 9-year-old football player was carrying the ball during a youth game in Wisconsin when an adult ran onto the field and deliberately tripped him.

    The man was not another player, coach or official. Police identified him as a 41-year-old father whose child was playing for the opposing team.

    The incident occurred on August 22 during a 10-U game between the Case Eagles and Milwaukee Colts at Case High School in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. Video shows the young Eagles player running with the football before the man entered the field and extended his leg into the boy’s path.

    The child fell to the ground but apparently escaped injury. He got back up and continued playing.

    Police say father admitted tripping the child

    By the time Mount Pleasant police arrived, the man and the boy had both left the area. Another parent followed the father’s vehicle and helped officers locate him.

    According to police, the father admitted that he had tripped the child and acknowledged that his actions were wrong. Bodycam footage from the encounter reportedly shows him attempting to explain his reaction by expressing concern about bigger children playing against his own child.

    Authorities considered whether the incident could qualify as physical abuse of a child under Wisconsin law. However, police said the requirements for that charge were not met because the boy suffered no bodily harm.

    The Racine County District Attorney’s Office was consulted. The 41-year-old father was ultimately cited for disorderly conduct and released.

    Coach calls incident “the most cowardly act I’ve ever seen”

    Case Eagles coach Channing Schultz called it “the most cowardly act I’ve ever seen” and said the consequences could have been far more serious, including a significant leg injury.

    The father was banned from attending games for the rest of the season. Schultz has called for a lifetime ban.

    The boy was physically unharmed, but the video captured an unsettling moment in which an adult interfered with a 9-year-old during a football play.

    Sergio Perez “had conversations” with Other Formula 1 Teams

    Sergio Perez says he remains committed to Cadillac despite his management holding talks with rival Formula 1 teams about a possible move for the 2027 season.

    Reports had linked Perez with Williams if Carlos Sainz decided to leave the team. However, Sainz signed a multi-year contract extension with the Grove-based outfit, removing that potential opportunity.

    The Mexican driver was also associated with Alpine, although the team is expected to retain Franco Colapinto for 2027 after the Argentine improved during his first full season with the Enstone-based squad.

    Despite the speculation, Perez told Formula 1’s Beyond the Grid podcast that he wants to remain part of Cadillac and help the American team develop beyond its debut season.

    “For me, nothing has changed,” he said. “Of course, we’ve had conversations with other teams and here and there, a few teams have been calling and stuff, but for me, nothing has changed. 

    “I see this as my project and I want to be part of Cadillac. I really believe [in it].

    “I don’t think this is a one-year project. I think this is a long-term project that I want to be part of. Obviously, there will be some discussions, but this is where I want to be and nothing has changed from my side.”

    Perez said he wants to see Cadillac make further progress and is also keen to assess the impact of new team principal Marcin Budkowski. Budkowski replaced Graeme Lowdon, who was released by Cadillac during the summer break.

    For Perez, improving Cadillac’s results will require more than simply increasing the car’s on-track performance. He also highlighted the team’s operational work, including pit stops, race strategy and tyre management.

    “I want to see more progress. Closing out the gap to the teams ahead of us,” he said. “I don’t know who’s ahead at the moment, I don’t know if it’s Williams, Aston seems to have become part [of the midfield] and being able to mix with them more in the races. 

    “Being able to close that gap will only allow us to start next year in a much better shape. And that’s something I want to see. Obviously, I’m looking forward to work with Marcin and see his leadership. 

    “I think there’s a lot of room for improvement. Not just on performance, operationally, pitstops, strategy, tyres. 

    “There’s so much still – we’ve only done the 11th race in our history. So there’s a lot of things. But I want to see much more progress. Closing out the gap and then I think that will give us a massive boost to start next year.”

    BTS’ two-night return to Chicago may be over, but the group appears to have left Soldier Field with personalized souvenirs commemorating their ARIRANG World Tour concerts.

    All seven members were reportedly seen with NFL-style footballs featuring their names and the dates of BTS’ Chicago shows. The unusual keepsakes surfaced online after the group attended soundcheck before its second concert on August 28.

    Personalized footballs commemorate BTS’ Chicago concerts

    Photos shared by fans appear to show individual red-and-white footballs customized for each BTS member. The designs feature “BTS: WORLD TOUR” across the white section, with “AUGUST 27 & 28, 2026” printed underneath. Each football also includes the name of one member.

    Although fans have speculated about where the items came from, the images provide a clear view of the personalized designs. One photo shows a member holding a football inside Soldier Field, while another offers a closer look at the lettering and concert dates.

    BTS’ first Chicago concerts in seven years

    The footballs arrived during a significant moment for BTS and its fans. The group performed at Soldier Field on August 27 and 28, marking its first Chicago concerts in seven years.

    More than 60,000 members of ARMY gathered at Soldier Field for the opening concert, with fans traveling from across the United States. BTS-themed meetups, merchandise lines and other fan activities also took place throughout Chicago during the concert weekend.

    The shows gave many fans the opportunity to see all seven BTS members perform together again after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the group’s planned 2020 world tour. BTS’ subsequent hiatus also included the members’ staggered mandatory military service in South Korea.

    Chicago’s concerts highlighted the enduring connection between BTS and ARMY. Fans have frequently credited the group’s music and message with helping them through difficult periods, while BTS has addressed themes such as self-acceptance, mental health and personal growth.

    Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker recognized the occasion by declaring August 27 and 28 “BTS Days” in honor of the group’s global influence and its performances at Soldier Field.

    Against that backdrop, the customized footballs serve as fitting mementos of BTS’ Chicago return. They combine the group’s concert experience with a distinctive piece of American sports culture, while the individual names give each souvenir a personal connection to one member.

    Liverpool’s first two Premier League matches of the season have ended 2-2, despite Iraola’s side controlling 60% possession against Newcastle last week and 70% against Nottingham Forest.

    In both games, Liverpool fell behind and have yet to lead in the Premier League this season. That has made life more difficult for Alexander Isak, who was a major threat in Newcastle’s counter-attacking system. Against teams defending in low blocks, the challenge is different.

    Why Liverpool’s possession has not produced results

    The issue also reflects a broader problem for Iraola. Last season, his Bournemouth team won only four of the 19 Premier League matches in which they had the majority of possession. They won nine of the other 19.

    The Cherries were known for their counter-pressing approach and their effectiveness in transition, but they also failed to win any match in which they had more than 58.8% possession.

    In effect, Iraola’s side performed better when they had less of the ball — a situation that is unlikely to occur regularly now that he is at Anfield.

    “As an attacking force it isn’t flowing for Liverpool,” said Hart. “With the physical nature of the Premier League and with them not 100% sure on what they are doing at the moment, teams are stomping all over them.”

    “It’s going to take a whole lot of work from Iraola and his staff on the training pitch, but he is a top coach and they have top players.”

    Asked whether he sets targets for the season, Isak said: “Not really. I think every striker wants to score [in] every game he plays. Obviously that’s difficult but [we take] each game at a time.”

    That is one way to approach the situation, and Isak’s performance was certainly an improvement on his display against Newcastle. However, the striker will know privately that he can — and must — perform better.

    Middlesbrough mayor calls for fairer police funding

    Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Middlesbrough mayor Chris Cooke said Cleveland Police was doing “extremely well” despite a lack of funding that “they absolutely need”.

    “They are a police force that has been the hardest hit. “They’ve had over 10 per cent reduction in FTE (full-time equivalent) of police officers, while other places have seen over 20 per cent increase, and that isn’t fair,” he said.

    Mr Cooke said police funding should “follow need”.

    “It cannot just be based on population sizes as it currently is, because that serves no one well,” he said.

    Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola said he was angry after being prevented from making a triple substitution earlier during Saturday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

    Liverpool substitutions delayed during Forest draw

    With the score level at 1-1 in the second half, Iraola wanted to introduce Ryan Gravenberch, Kostas Tsimikas and Rio Ngumoha.

    However, the substitutes were left waiting on the touchline despite the ball going out of play three times, as fourth official Tim Robinson experienced problems with the electronic board.

    Liverpool’s frustration increased when Forest took a quick throw-in after the third stoppage instead of waiting for the substitutions. Nottingham Forest won a penalty from the resulting attack and regained the lead.

    Forest wing-back Neco Williams ran in behind the Liverpool defence and was challenged by goalkeeper Alisson as he attempted to lift a shot towards goal.

    The ball drifted wide, but referee Samuel Barrott blew his whistle and awarded Forest a penalty.

    “With the penalty, the situation has already finished when the contact appears. And it’s not an aggressive contact,” Iraola told BBC Match of the Day.

    “But more than this we complained about the subs. We had to wait about three minutes.”

    “He was having an issue with the board, I don’t know if it was not working, but we definitely wanted to do the subs the last two or three stoppages before the goal.”

    “It wasn’t just that reason but everything helps.”

    Speaking to TNT Sports, Iraola added: “A professional fourth official cannot take three minutes. We’d already given him the subs two or three minutes before.”

    “I was already angry because in the previous stoppage we couldn’t make the subs and then before throw-in I thought we could do it.”

    “I don’t know, they will have to explain it. But it has taken ages.”

    Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar is “hopeful” of returning to the Formula 1 grid for the Italian Grand Prix after a wrist injury ruled him out of the Dutch Grand Prix.

    Hadjar suffered the injury during Formula 1’s summer shutdown. Although he missed the final F1 race at Zandvoort, the driver said he was “healing fast” while filming with the Milton Keynes-based team last weekend.

    Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson replaced Hadjar alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen, but Hadjar remained at Zandvoort to support the team.

    “Actually, it’s my first injury ever in my whole existence, career, whatever,” he told Red Bull in a behind-the-scenes video from the Dutch Grand Prix.

    “It’s weird to be on the bench and I’m not happy about it, for me and for the team. Obviously, I want to be there every lap.”

    Hadjar targets Monza return

    Pointing to his braced wrist, Hadjar added: “It’s not swollen, which is very good. It’s a good sign. So, actually, it’s healing fast. Every day I have a bit more mobility and I’m hopeful for Monza.”

    Lawson scored six points for Red Bull while standing in for Hadjar, finishing seventh at Zandvoort.

    “As for Liam, it’s never easy to jump from one team to another,” team principal Laurent Mekies said. “Today he took the points that we were able to take. Yesterday, he did a very good job in qualifying, being very close to Max and we thank him for having been able to adapt so quickly to the team.”

    The Italian Grand Prix at Monza is scheduled to take place from 4-6 September. Neither Red Bull nor Hadjar has officially confirmed whether he will return to the cockpit in Italy.

    Hadjar currently sits eighth in the drivers’ standings with 68 points, while his team-mate Verstappen is sixth with 112 points.

    Together, the Mannings have produced generations of elite quarterbacks and left an indelible mark on football. Yet one of college football’s most prestigious honors has remained out of reach: no Manning has ever won the Heisman Trophy.

    That could change in 2026. NFL.com analyst and former player Bucky Brooks has placed Texas quarterback Arch Manning at the top of his early 2026 Heisman Trophy watch list, pointing to the Longhorns’ talented offense and the arrival of a dynamic new playmaker who could take Manning’s production to another level.

    Arch Manning emerges as a 2026 Heisman favorite

    Expectations have followed Manning since he arrived in Austin. As the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning and the grandson of Archie Manning, he entered college football with one of the most recognizable surnames in sports. Although the attention has often been intense, Manning has steadily developed into the centerpiece of Steve Sarkisian’s offense and one of the country’s most intriguing quarterbacks.

    With Texas again expected to compete for a national championship, the spotlight on Manning has grown even brighter. Brooks believes the quarterback is positioned to produce the type of statistical season that appeals to Heisman voters.

    Manning has the size, arm talent, mobility and football intelligence that NFL scouts value. At 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, he has the physical profile of a future professional starter. However, the talent surrounding him could ultimately be the factor that separates him from the rest of the Heisman field.

    Cam Coleman could boost Manning’s Heisman campaign

    Auburn transfer Cam Coleman is one of the biggest reasons for optimism around Manning’s Heisman prospects. Brooks described Coleman as a potential NFL WR1 prospect, and his arrival gives Texas another explosive weapon in an offense already loaded with talent.

    Coleman’s ability to stretch defenses vertically could create more opportunities for Manning to attack downfield. His size, speed and ball-tracking ability make him a dangerous target on deep routes, while his ability to make plays after the catch gives Texas another way to generate explosive gains.

    For a quarterback pursuing the Heisman Trophy, big plays are critical. Highlight-reel touchdowns, long completions and eye-catching statistics often shape the narrative of a Heisman campaign. Coleman appears capable of helping Manning deliver all three.

    Brooks also noted that Coleman’s versatility should allow Texas to use him in catch-and-run concepts. Those plays could help Manning accumulate completions while maintaining a high efficiency rate throughout the season.

    Steve Sarkisian’s offense could maximize Arch Manning

    Talent alone does not win the Heisman Trophy. The right offensive system is also essential, and few college football coaches have a stronger reputation for offensive design than Steve Sarkisian.

    Over the past several seasons, Sarkisian has consistently built game plans that maximize quarterback strengths and create favorable matchups for skill-position players. His offenses are known for producing explosive plays while creating easier scoring opportunities through creative formations and route combinations.

    Brooks specifically pointed to Sarkisian’s ability to design “winners”, plays that frequently leave receivers open for uncontested touchdowns.

    Those schemes help Texas win games while also increasing quarterback production. If Manning regularly throws touchdown passes while leading one of the nation’s most explosive offenses, his Heisman résumé could become difficult for voters to overlook.
