Man Risks Life to Sneak Onto Forbidden Snake Island

Brazil’s Ilha de Queimada Grande, famously nicknamed Snake Island, lives up to its moniker. Located approximately 90 miles off the coast of São Paulo, this 106-acre island is densely populated by thousands of venomous serpents, making it widely considered unfit for human habitation.

Danger Tourism Draws YouTuber to Forbidden Shore

Despite the extreme risks, “danger tourist” and YouTuber Miles Routledge deliberately traveled to the island in pursuit of content. Routledge, known for visiting unsafe global destinations to boost viewership, reportedly had to evade the Brazilian Coast Guard to reach the restricted shore.

    Journey to the Abandoned Lighthouse

Upon making landfall, Routledge immediately set off through overgrown jungle terrain toward an abandoned lighthouse, which he described as one of the most dangerous spots on the island. For protection, he donned medieval-inspired armour and said a prayer before beginning the trek.

    Addressing the camera, Routledge stated:

“This isn’t clickbait, I’m on one of the most dangerous island in the world,” he told the camera.

“Many have been to this island and very few have gotten out unfortunately.”

    Fact Versus Folklore

Local legend claims the lighthouse’s former occupants died from snake bites. However, historical records indicate the lighthouse was automated in 1920, and the last human inhabitants left simply because their presence was no longer required.

Contrary to its fearsome reputation, Routledge encountered very few snakes during his expedition. At one point, he remarked that dehydration posed a greater immediate threat than envenomation.

“It’s not that bad, for the second most dangerous island in the world,” he told the camera at one point.

    Survival and Strict Access Restrictions

Routledge managed to depart the island alive, but his survival should not be interpreted as an invitation for others to attempt the journey. Today, access to Ilha de Queimada Grande is strictly limited to government-sanctioned research teams. These controlled visits aim to minimize risks to both human visitors and the island’s fragile ecosystem.

The Golden Lancehead: A Critically Endangered Resident

Among the island’s inhabitants is the golden lancehead (Bothrops insularis), a critically endangered pit viper species endemic to the island. Its venom is potent enough to kill a human. Despite the high density of these snakes and the island’s notorious reputation, there are no documented fatalities from snake bites directly connected to Ilha de Queimada Grande.

  • Why More Homeowners Are Refreshing Living Rooms Instead of Buying New Furniture

Why More Homeowners Are Refreshing Living Rooms Instead of Buying New Furniture

Homeowners Embrace Furniture Revival Over Replacement

Instead of hauling a worn-out sofa to the curb and starting over, more homeowners are working with what they already have — reupholstering, rearranging and layering in new textures to refresh their living spaces.

    Sustainable Style Meets Practical Savings

The shift reflects a broader movement toward sustainable interior design. By choosing to reupholster existing pieces, homeowners reduce landfill waste and avoid the environmental cost of manufacturing and shipping new furniture. At the same time, quality reupholstery often costs less than buying comparable new pieces, especially when dealing with well-built frames that simply need fresh fabric and padding.

    Creative Layering Transforms Rooms

Beyond reupholstering, strategic rearranging and texture layering breathe new life into familiar layouts. Swapping room configurations, adding textured throws, mixing fabric patterns, and incorporating natural materials like wool, linen, or leather create visual depth without requiring a full redesign. This approach lets homeowners evolve their spaces gradually, adapting to changing tastes and needs.

Quality Frames Deserve a Second Life

Solid wood frames, eight-way hand-tied springs, and durable joinery — hallmarks of mid-century and traditional craftsmanship — often outlast their original upholstery by decades. Investing in professional reupholstery preserves these structural assets while allowing complete customization of color, pattern, and fabric performance for modern living.

As design priorities shift toward longevity and personalization, the “make do and mend” philosophy proves both stylish and smart — turning existing furniture into the foundation of a refreshed home.

‘Breathing Down Your Neck’: Former Walmart Cashier’s Viral Job Rant Has Workers Agreeing

A viral TikTok video ranking Walmart jobs has sparked debate among retail workers, with creator @rackksinmyypurple naming cashier and Online Grocery Pickup, commonly known as OGP, as the two worst positions at the company.

The video had more than 480,000 views and over 3,200 comments at the time of writing. The TikToker said his ranking was based on his own experience working at Walmart and was aimed at people considering entry-level retail jobs.

Why he ranked cashier as Walmart’s worst job

The creator said cashier was the worst position because of its repetitive duties and strict workplace rules. “You’re gonna be sitting there for eight hours straight doing not sh-t, but just listen to customers b—-ing complain while you’re scanning their f–king s–t,” he said.

He said cashiers cannot use their phones or listen to music while working, and that bathroom breaks are also limited. He described the role as one involving close supervision from managers. “Then you got two, three managers that are just breathing down your f’king neck,” he said.

The TikToker said his experience as a Walmart cashier was worse than working in other retail settings, including a gas station. He discouraged viewers from taking cashier jobs in any industry, saying the position was especially difficult because of the volume of customer complaints and the limited control workers have during a shift.

Walmart OGP has fewer customer interactions

He described OGP as more enjoyable overall because employees face less direct management oversight and have fewer customer interactions. He called it ‘the funniest job in the f—— world.’ The role involves retrieving and organizing customers’ online orders throughout the store.

However, he said OGP also has drawbacks. Employees cannot accept tips and may receive frequent complaints about how groceries are bagged or placed in customers’ vehicles. “People complain about the way you bag their f–king groceries,” he said.

He also said OGP workers must immediately clean up items that fall from delivery crates or risk being formally coached by management. According to his account, the job requires near-constant movement during a shift, with only a short break period built into the workday.

Workers debate the hardest and easiest Walmart jobs

The creator gave an honorable mention to Walmart employees who unload delivery trucks, describing the position as the company’s most physically demanding job. He compared the work with general warehouse labor.

Comments on the video included responses from people who said they had worked in the positions discussed. One commenter agreed that customer behavior, rather than the cashier duties themselves, was the main challenge. They wrote, “Cashier ain’t hard but dealing with the people is atrocious.”

Another commenter said the video matched their partner’s experience working in OGP. They wrote, “My girl work at ogp and constantly complaining” [sic].

A third commenter said cart attendant was a better option than the jobs featured in the video. They wrote, “Cart attendant the best one we sit around all day when we get it full inside” [sic].

The Daily Dot was unable to independently verify the specific Walmart store location or the current workplace policies described in the video. The details reflect the account shared by @rackksinmyypurple on TikTok.

TikToker’s Date Called Her Career ‘Dilly Dallying’—She Returned From the Restroom With a Plan

TikTok creator Livi shared a story about a recent date who appeared dismissive of her social media career. She recounted the experience in a July 22 “get ready with me” makeup video that had received more than 39,000 likes at the time of publication.

Livi described it as “the worst date” she had been on recently and said she had committed “the most evil thing” she had done on a date because of the man’s behavior.

Livi says date mocked her social media career

Livi said she had matched with the man, whom she called “Brad” in the video, more than once on a dating app. After their first date went well, they arranged to meet again.

At first, Livi was vague about her job and told Brad only that social media was her full-time work. She explained that other creator friends had advised her not to immediately disclose that she was an influencer.

During their second date, Livi said she told Brad she was stressed because of work. He responded by asking how difficult it could be to pick up a phone and record a video. He later asked how much she earned from brand deals.

Although Livi did not reveal her exact rates, she said the question made her more annoyed. She said Brad eventually pushed her over the edge by describing her work as “dilly dallying all day long.”

She made Brad guess her greatest fear

Livi said she excused herself to the restroom and decided she was going to “ruin everybody’s night.” When she returned, she began asking Brad questions as part of a game, including details she had previously shared with him.

When Brad could not remember her greatest fear, Livi gave him three chances to guess it. She said that if he failed, he would have to take an Uber home. Brad missed all three guesses, and, according to Livi, he ultimately called an Uber.

Livi acknowledged that her response was “a little bit insane,” but insisted that Brad had repeatedly teased her, either directly or indirectly, about her career. She concluded that he had been unnecessarily rude about her work.

TikTok users debate the date story

Many TikTok users found Livi’s account entertaining and did not think she had acted unreasonably. One commenter wrote, “This isn’t even bad on your part.” Another jokingly advised her to be “worse next time.”

Some viewers interpreted Brad’s comments as signs of insecurity or jealousy. One said he was trying to “knock you down a peg”. The phrase “dilly dally” also stood out in the comments. One viewer called it a new “ick”, while another said Livi should be able to “dilly dally” because her work pays her bills.

Other commenters criticized Livi’s reaction and questioned why she felt the need to conceal her profession instead of describing herself as working in marketing or communications. Some argued that if someone must hide their career to be accepted by a potential partner, the relationship is probably not worth pursuing.

The Daily Dot could not independently verify the events described in Livi’s video. The date’s real name was not disclosed, and “Brad” is the name used in Livi’s account. The details above reflect the story shared by @sheislivi on TikTok.

British Man Visits an American Walmart for the First Time and Leaves With One Question: ‘The H— Do You Guys Eat?’

A British man visiting an American Walmart for the first time was left “overstimulated” by the store’s enormous portions, unusual packaging and unexpected security measures. His girlfriend, TikTok user @taylaajacksonn, filmed his reactions as he explored the supermarket, drawing more than 540,000 views and nearly 50,000 likes.

@taylaajacksonn took her London-based boyfriend shopping at Walmart after he heard the store was ‘good.’ Their trip began at the entrance, where he discovered that the shopping buggy simply had to be pulled out.

He explained that shopping carts in the UK require a coin deposit before they can be unlocked. His girlfriend was surprised by that difference, but it was only the beginning of his confusion during the Walmart visit.

British man reacts to Walmart’s oversized products

In the meat section, he compared a nearly foot-long rolled piece of meat with his arm. He questioned what meal would require all 160 ounces of meat and had a similar reaction to the size of one of Walmart’s pizzas.

They then visited the “Bagged Cereal” aisle, a concept that appeared unfamiliar to him. Holding one of the products, he seemed particularly confused by the cereal being packaged in a bag.

The video cut to a still image in which the woman said her boyfriend looked ‘overstimulated’ as he pushed their shopping buggy. While she was filming him, something caught his attention and prompted him to say, “There is some creepy stuff in here.”

He also questioned why customers would choose a combined dip instead of buying separate dips, asking his girlfriend, “Why does it have to be together, all the time?”

The British visitor pointed out that televisions and other expensive appliances were displayed openly, while underwear was locked inside a glass case. He continued reacting to drinks, labels, dressings and other products throughout the video.

TikTok users understand why the Walmart trip felt overwhelming

The couple visited several other sections, including the baked goods department, before finishing their shopping. After collecting everything they needed, they checked out of the store.

His final reaction was: ‘Successful trip? The hell do you guys eat?’

Several UK-based TikTok users said they understood why the Walmart experience might have felt overwhelming. One commenter highlighted the size of the pizza, writing, “That pizza wouldn’t even fit in a British oven.” Another said, “I’m from the UK, and this is INSANE to me.” A third commenter added, “The sheer size of some of that stuff blows my UK mind…”

The Daily Dot was unable to independently verify the man’s identity or confirm the specific Walmart location shown in the video. The details reflect the account shared on TikTok by @taylaajacksonn.

In the videos, creators gradually crouch lower toward the ground while the caption, “Today I’m gonna turn into a cute little X,” appears on screen piece by piece. The video then cuts to a clip of someone or something else, creating the illusion that the participant has turned into the featured subject.

    How the TikTok trend started

The trend gained popularity on TikTok throughout August 2026 and was started that month by TikToker @sleepeymimiii. Videos using the format are set to “I’m Going To Be a Squashed Cheese Ball Today” by HappyPizzaBread.
