Viewers Raise ‘Stroke’ Concerns After ABC News Anchor’s Face Drops Live on Air

ABC Melbourne news anchor Iskhandar Razak has reassured viewers after an on-air medical emergency during a live broadcast on Friday, 4 September. While delivering a weather update, Razak’s face appeared to droop on one side, prompting immediate concern from audiences who flooded social media with messages asking if he was okay.

Anchor confirms Bell’s palsy diagnosis, not a stroke

Razak later shared a video update on Instagram confirming he had not suffered a stroke. Instead, doctors diagnosed him with Bell’s palsy, a condition causing sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face.

“Good news, it’s not a stroke but as you can see my face isn’t really reacting as it normally would.

“There’s some paralysation of this side of the face at the moment.”

He thanked viewers for their support and explained that a trip to the emergency room ruled out anything life-threatening.

“What it is, is Bell’s palsy, inflammation of the ear through, or an ear nerve that’s connected up and it means this is slower to react.

‘I have been able to force myself to make it a bit better when I’ve had to work.

“But keen people have noticed that this eye, more than anything, is really taking its time to shut.

“So I am going to take a few days off, and hopefully this will sort itself out with medication and treatment in a few weeks tops.

“Thank you again to everyone who’s asked, and if you see me with an eye patch on the streets, you know why.”

Razak describes moment he knew something was wrong

Speaking earlier on ABC Radio Melbourne, Razak detailed the timeline of the incident. He said he had felt unwell in the days leading up to the broadcast and had slept poorly the night before.

“I was aware something was different and so the first real inclination that I thought something is probably askew was about 3.45pm, when I was on air with Charlie Pickering and that’s when I felt like I was talking out of the side of my mouth and felt a bit different.

“At the same time, I was thinking, the worst thing is that something’s really wrong here and it could be a stroke.

“But I’m chatting away and no one’s noticing a thing. Everyone’s listening. No one’s made any comment that my face looks different. I’m completely coherent.

“But when I got home that night, my wife, who is a GP, looked at me straight away and said, ”half of your face has got a droop going on”.

“I couldn’t make a bubble with my face because I’d lost that muscle connection.”

Recovery expected to take several months

Medical professionals told Razak a full recovery typically takes between three to six months. He said he will take a few weeks off work while undergoing medication and treatment.

The incident highlights how quickly viewers can detect subtle changes during live broadcasts and the importance of seeking immediate medical attention when stroke-like symptoms appear — even when they turn out to be a different neurological condition.

  • Jeremy Clarkson Refuses Diet and Alcohol Abstinence After Health Scare and Cancer All-Clear

Jeremy Clarkson Refuses Diet and Alcohol Abstinence After Health Scare and Cancer All-Clear

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has no plans to maintain a restrictive diet following his recent cancer scare. The Clarkson’s Farm star disclosed he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer after doctors discovered a tumour during a routine medical checkup in May. Since his recovery, he has used his platform to encourage others to attend cancer screenings.

Clarkson Prioritizes Joy Over Strict Dietary Rules

After being unwell for a short period, Clarkson is back to his regular routine. His girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, reportedly advised him to modify his diet following the diagnosis. However, speaking to The Times, the presenter made it clear he refuses to adopt a joyless lifestyle in the name of longevity.

“Sure, I can eat less and more healthily. I can become a herbivore, and yes, I can got for 20-mile hikes and do 20,000 steps a day,” he said. “But the truth is, there has to be some joy in life as well.”

“And not drinking and not eating a pork chop means there is less joy in life. And I haven’t worked my a*** off for 40 years to have no joy in my old age.”

“So I’m having joy in my old age.”

    Health Adjustments Focus on Moderation

Despite his rejection of extreme lifestyle changes, Clarkson acknowledged he has made practical adjustments to safeguard his health, partly motivated by a desire to see his grandchildren grow up. These changes include driving slower, incorporating more vegetables into his meals, and walking more for exercise.

    On-Air Diagnosis Shocked Co-Stars

The diagnosis was first revealed on Clarkson’s Farm during a conversation with co-stars Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper. The trio had been discussing harvest plans when Clarkson broke the news.

    “I’ve got cancer.”

“I had a medical, you remember back in May. I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early so the treatment will be, you know.”

“I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle.”

    Advocating for Early Detection

Since going into remission, Clarkson has spoken publicly about his experience multiple times, urging people in at-risk groups to overcome embarrassment and get checked. He recounted a conversation with former UK Prime Minister David Cameron, who also received treatment for prostate cancer.

“I was talking to David [Cameron] about it earlier this morning,” said Clarkson. “He said the amount of people that come up to him is mostly in public conveniences and say, ‘If you hadn’t owned up to it, I wouldn’t have got checked’, and they wouldn’t have found it.”

“So now there’s a group of us, [restaurant critic] Giles Coren, David, me, one or two other people, and we meet for lunch every so often.”

  • Dolly Parton’s Sister Reveals Heartbreaking Reason Singer Didn’t Disclose Cancer Diagnosis

Dolly Parton’s Sister Reveals Heartbreaking Reason Singer Didn’t Disclose Cancer Diagnosis

Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, has revealed why the country music icon chose to keep her cancer diagnosis private before her passing last month at age 80. The legendary singer died following what her representatives described as a “brief battle with cancer” at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

    Family Shares Reason for Privacy

In a statement released shortly after her death, Parton’s representatives confirmed: “After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.”

The news prompted an immediate and massive outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists worldwide, with tributes pouring in from figures including Eminem, Mick Jagger, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and former President Donald Trump.

Final Public Appearance and Health Updates

Weeks before her passing, Parton had canceled a scheduled appearance at her Tennessee theme park, Dollywood, on doctor’s orders. Addressing fans about her absence, she explained:

“My little butterfly wings are getting kinda tired,” she told attendees about her absence. “Now I’ve told you before, all my fans, that I have had a few little health issues. And sometimes I get a little dizzy, and I get dehydrated. And I’m dehydrated. And so my Nashville doctor clipped my wings, saying you ain’t travelling this week. So I guess if your doctor tells you you ain’t travelling this week, you ain’t travelling this week.”

Prior to this, Parton had reassured fans that she was “still healing and still working” despite acknowledging “a few health issues.”

    Protecting Fans from Worry

Speaking to CBS Mornings, Stella Parton explained her sister’s decision to withhold the severity of her condition: “She did not want people sad. She’d be really happy and delighted that people have shown her so much love.”

“Dolly could not bear negative things. And she would not have wanted her fans worried about it.”

Stella added that Parton had not disclosed her diagnosis to all family members, noting “some of us knew, the ones of us that were closer.”

Parton’s niece, Jada Star, echoed this sentiment in an interview with Extra: “She never wanted to worry anybody. So I think it was just a shock.” Star described her aunt’s passing as “really difficult” and “very surreal,” but found comfort in the public response: “All of these tributes have helped so much to help us all through it. I can’t remember a life without her. She would also tell us to start drying it up and start trying to get back to work and love each other real hard. She was just a trip.”

    Celebrity Tributes Honor a Legend

    Miley Cyrus

Parton’s goddaughter shared an emotional tribute on Instagram:

“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts. What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis. I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.”

    Donald Trump

The former president posted on Truth Social:

“Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away. This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you.”

    Taylor Swift

The singer-songwriter, whom Parton had previously praised as a “great inspiration,” wrote a lengthy tribute:

“A world without Dolly doesn’t feel possible, real, or right. But because of the eternally generous way she spent her time on this earth and the countless lives she changed for the better, her legacy will be an everlasting one. She was truly the gift that kept on giving. Dolly gave us someone to look up to while encouraging us to be who we are as individuals. Somehow she was able to give us her lessons about the world gently and honestly, simultaneously, and oftentimes hilariously. She managed to give the world the ultimate mystery and fantasy in some corners of her life, but to give full transparency in the ways that counted. Somehow she was true grace and true grit, all in one dazzling person. She possessed the softest heart when it came to the struggles of others, and a backbone of steel to defend her own self worth as an artist. Along with her other fans, I am so grateful for all of it. For the melodies and lyrics she wrote that thawed even the coldest hearts. For the millions of books she provided children all over the world so that they might fall in love with stories the way she did. For the tightropes she walked so that young girls like me could grow up dreaming of joining the circus too. Dolly, I’ll think of you each step of the way.”

    Beyoncé

The artist, who covered “Jolene” in 2024, honored Parton’s influence:

“Dolly, you were the barometer. The north star. Bold and brilliant. Talented and tenacious. You taught so many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself. I am grateful for your art, your heart, your generosity, your humour, your entrepreneurship. I’m honoured that I had the privilege to work with you. I will treasure that forever. Thank you for your profound impact on the world. You are an angel who has made this world a happier place because of your joyful art. You are truly one of one. Rest peacefully.”

    Eminem

The rapper shared a personal note Parton sent congratulating him on his 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction:

“Even though I don’t know a lot about rap music, I’ve come to know that you are the very best at it. I have always felt some unexplained connection to you like I know you somehow. Just know you are very special and touch people in ways you don’t even know.”

Eminem responded: “I’m sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had an impact on me. She definitely didn’t have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.”

Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison Undergoes Emergency Bypass Surgery After Routine Procedure

Rick Harrison, the well-known face of History Channel’s Pawn Stars, is recovering after an unexpected medical emergency. According to a family spokesperson speaking to LADbible, the 61-year-old Las Vegas pawn shop owner went in for a routine stent procedure but ended up requiring major bypass surgery.

Doctors discovered a serious cardiac issue during the initial procedure, prompting the more extensive operation. The surgery was successful, and Harrison is now said to be optimistic about his health outlook.

“He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery.”

The spokesperson added that Harrison has expressed gratitude to the medical team and is surrounded by family during his recuperation.

“He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time,”

    the representative said.

Family Health Challenges Continue in 2026

This health scare comes months after another significant incident involving the Harrison family. In January, Rick’s son Corey Harrison, 43, suffered a severe motorbike accident in Tulum, Mexico, just days before his father’s wedding.

The crash left Corey with extensive injuries, including 11 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, a concussion, and internal bleeding. Despite the severity, he has since made a full recovery, with updates provided in March by his friend Aaron Chambers, who organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist with medical expenses.

“Thank you so much to the people who have donated!”

    Corey said at the time.

“I don’t know if anyone out there has broken ribs but this is awful!! I will keep everyone updated on my condition.”

    Dispute Over Medical Fundraising

The GoFundMe campaign, which initially sought $100,000 before lowering its target to $18,000, became a point of contention between father and son. Rick Harrison questioned the need for the fundraiser, stating he had already covered his son’s medical bills.

“As far as I know, I paid all of Corey’s medical bills long before he put the GoFundMe out.”

    Rick told TMZ.

Rick emphasized that any disagreement would be resolved privately.

“Corey and I will work this out by talking to each other and not the media.”

“We appreciate everyone’s support and concern but feel it is in the best interest of all to concentrate on Corey’s recovery at this time.”

Rick also clarified there was no formal repayment arrangement for the funds he provided, which reportedly came as a surprise to Corey given their personal and business relationship.

    Corey Harrison Addresses Donors Directly

On March 6, Corey posted a message thanking donors and addressing what he described as misinformation regarding his financial situation and bill payments.

“There has been a lot of misinformation out there about my net worth and about who has been paying my bills,”

    the message read.

“I want to make it clear that every penny you have given is going toward my recovery. I am deeply indebted to all of my fans for your support, kindness, and generosity during this difficult time.”

Pawn Stars Legacy in Las Vegas

Rick Harrison co-founded the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas with his father in 1989. The shop became the setting for Pawn Stars, which premiered in 2009 and grew into one of cable television’s most enduring reality series. Both Rick and Corey have been central figures on the show, which documents the daily operations and unique items brought into the family business.

  • Paul Gascoigne’s 28-Year-Old Daughter-in-Law Diagnosed With ‘aggressive and incurable’ Brain Tumour

Paul Gascoigne’s 28-Year-Old Daughter-in-Law Diagnosed With ‘aggressive and incurable’ Brain Tumour

Jaimee-Louise Sharp, the daughter-in-law of former England footballer Paul Gascoigne, is raising £320,516 to access a clinical trial in the United States after being diagnosed with an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer.

The 28-year-old is in a long-term relationship with Gascoigne’s son, Mason, and they have a five-year-old son, Teddy. Jaimee is appealing for donations to help her ‘fight for more time’ with her child.

She shared the ‘devastating news’ on social media after initially keeping her diagnosis within the family. She has since been offered a ‘rare opportunity’ to take part in a clinical trial at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio.

Jaimee has been diagnosed with IDH1-Mutant, CNS WHO grade 4 Astrocytoma, a form of brain cancer. She says there is ‘no cure’ and that the ‘median survival rate is about five years’.

Writing on her GoFundMe page, Jaimee said she has undergone ‘major brain surgery’ to remove as much of the tumour as possible. She is now receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

“Unfortunately, with this type of cancer, even after the standard treatment the tumour is aggressive and fast growing,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I desperately want more time with my little boy. Being Teddy’s mummy is my whole reason for existence. And I’m not ready to say goodbye.

“But for the first time since my diagnosis, I’ve been given a glimmer of hope.”

Jaimee has been offered a place on the ‘TarGet-D clinical trial’ at Ohio’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The two-year study will investigate the drug Olutasidenib ‘for IDH1-Mutant high grade Gliomas like mine’.

“Finding a trial that matches my exact cancer, mutation and stage of treatment is incredibly difficult,” she continued on GoFundMe.

“There is no guarantee another suitable option will come at the right time. If there is even a possibility this treatment could give me more time with Teddy, I need to know I tried.”

The family are trying to raise £320,516. (Instagram/jaimeelouisesharp)

The family has four weeks to raise the money. The target will cover travel between the UK and the US, with Jaimee expected to return monthly throughout the two-year trial.

The fundraising total includes the cost of ‘approximately 21 return flights’, accommodation, travel insurance, specialist insurance linked to her cancer and ‘any unforeseen costs that may arise throughout two years of constant international travel’.

“£320,516 is an amount of money I never imagined I would have to ask people to help me raise,” she wrote. “I wish more than anything I didn’t have to.”

Although Jaimee accepts there is ‘no cure’, she says the trial offers ‘an opportunity for more time’.

“I need to watch my sons smiles and laughter on more Christmas mornings. To be there for more birthdays, and to watch him become the young man I’ve always imagined,” she wrote.

“I’m not asking one person to make this possible. I’m asking as many people as possible to help in whatever way they can.”

Mason, who was adopted by Gascoigne when he married Mason’s mother, Sheryl, has also appealed for support on Instagram.

“We just need your help to just share this as far and wide as it possibly can go,” he said.

“We’re trying to achieve this goal so we can have the time we deserve with her and she has time she deserves with her five-year-old boy so please like, share and donate as much as you can.

“I know time’s are hard but we appreciate it, even if it’s a pound. I just wanna say thank you to everyone.”

  • Woman, 22, Diagnosed With Cancer After Ears Fail to Pop During Flight

Woman, 22, Diagnosed With Cancer After Ears Fail to Pop During Flight

A 22-year-old mother has revealed how a seemingly minor ear problem led to a diagnosis of rare nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a form of cancer that initially left doctors stunned.

Aida Burkins, from Hemet, California, began experiencing symptoms after flying to Chicago, Illinois, in May last year. After landing, she could not pop her ears, a common problem caused by changes in air pressure during a flight.

Aida Burkins, 22, said medics initially believed it was ‘just altitude sickness’ (TikTok/@moody.aidaa)

According to Boots Hearingcare, difficulty popping the ears can be linked to Eustachian tube dysfunction, sinus congestion or earwax buildup.

It explains: “It’s advisable to avoid forceful attempts to pop your ears, as this can sometimes exacerbate the issue. Instead, consider strategies like swallowing, yawning, or chewing gum to encourage natural equalisation.”

Experts recommend seeking medical advice if the problem continues or is accompanied by pain. In Aida’s case, her hearing deteriorated rapidly while she experienced constant fatigue and significant weight loss.

Speaking to Newsweek, she said: “I started bleeding into my throat, which would only come out of my nose if I was bent at the hip at about 90 degrees.”

“My hearing got worse and worse. Then I started getting more tired and losing weight.”

    Aida Burkins’ symptoms

In a TikTok video about her symptoms, Aida explained that she would ‘literally be choking on how much [blood] was just leaking into my throat’.

She said doctors initially told her it was ‘just altitude sickness’ and that the problem would eventually disappear. However, her symptoms continued to worsen.

Doctors later discovered that a mass was blocking her Eustachian tube. Aida was referred to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist, where she reported ‘muffled’ hearing and persistent ‘ringing’ in her ears.

The ENT specialist found that her adenoids were inflamed and recommended removing them. The adenoids are small areas of tissue at the back of the throat, behind the nose, that help fight infection.

The doctor also said he was ‘suspicious’ that cancer could be responsible, although he considered it unlikely because Aida was only 22.

Aida Burkins developed a large lump in her neck while experiencing ear problems
Aida developed a huge lump in her neck while also dealing with ear issues (TikTok/@moody.aidaa)

The left side of Aida’s throat then became severely swollen, prompting doctors to take a biopsy from her neck. She said her doctor told her that ‘he had never seen anything quite like what she had going on’.

A CT scan showed ‘lumps and bumps everywhere’, including in lymph nodes at the base of her skull.

After months of tests, Aida was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in February this year.

The NHS describes this ‘rare’ cancer as affecting the part of the throat that connects the back of the nose with the back of the mouth, known as the pharynx.

Symptoms can include a lump in the neck that does not disappear, hearing loss—usually affecting one ear—tinnitus, a blocked nose, nosebleeds, headaches and double vision.

    ‘It was horrifying’

People diagnosed with NPC are typically treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Aida has undergone both treatments, while surgery is not usually considered because of the difficulty of accessing the affected area.

Describing the moment she received her diagnosis, Aida said: “Hearing I have cancer, all I thought about was not being able to see my babies grow up or do the things they want to do in life. It was horrifying.”

Although she is only 22, Aida wants to remind people that ‘cancer doesn’t discriminate’. She is also urging anyone experiencing similar symptoms to advocate for themselves, regardless of age.

Aida said doctors are ‘optimistic that she’ll be cancer-free’ after she completes treatment. She added: “My prognosis is overall good. “Everything is shrinking and responding to the treatments my doctors have been giving me.”

  • GK Barry Warns Weight-Loss Jabs Could Have Disturbing Effects on Women’s Bodies

GK Barry Warns Weight-Loss Jabs Could Have Disturbing Effects on Women’s Bodies

GK Barry has urged influencers in the public eye to be more open about using weight-loss injections, while sharing her concerns about how widespread use of GLP-1 medications could affect women’s body image.

The author and Netflix actress, whose real name is Grace Keeling, rose to fame after sharing her life unfiltered on TikTok in 2020. The Cambridge-born 27-year-old has since become the youngest-ever panellist on Loose Women, sparked calls from ITV viewers for a new I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! rule and made a cameo in a Harlan Coben television series.

Speaking to Fabulous Magazine this month, Barry discussed her views on weight-loss drugs and admitted she had always been “very used to being thin”.

“So when you put even a tiny bit of weight on, that’s all you think about. It feels like the end of the world. I went drastically the other way,”

    she confessed.

The Saving Grace podcaster said online critics began accusing her of using GLP-1 injections after she publicly lost weight. Barry denied using the medication.

“People were accusing me of being on Ozempic. I am not on the jabs. I am actually scared of needles, but it also just feels a bit too much for me,”

    she told the publication.

Barry, who attended Nottingham Trent University, said the popularity of weight-loss medications made her ‘worries’ that society could soon reach a point where anything larger than a straight size 10 is considered ‘unacceptable’, according to Fabulous.

Data previously published by social-commerce platform Mys Tyler indicated that the average British woman wears between dress sizes 16 and 18. A separate NHS survey suggested that 52 percent of women in Britain are always trying to lose weight.

Research has found that around 80 percent of current GLP-1 users are women, while men are four times less likely to seek out the so-called ‘skinny jab’, according to The Health Foundation. A paper published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism found that key motivations for using injectable weight-loss medications include reducing weight-related health risks and ‘improving body satisfaction’.

One previous study claimed that ‘women who consider themselves larger felt more positive about themselves when they were able to fit into the smaller-sized pants’.

GK Barry calls for honesty over weight-loss injections

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star said she understands why some people choose to use GLP-1 medications. However, she criticised influencers who conceal their use of the drugs while presenting apparent ‘fitness transformations’ online.

“I know it’s no one’s business, but if you’re in the public eye, unfortunately it is,”

    she said.

“And if I ever got anything done, I would come online and be like: ‘Oh gosh, I’m really sorry,’ and do my public apology that I did get my nose done.”

Amy Tapper says Mounjaro ‘changed’ her life

Several celebrities have spoken openly about using GLP-1 medications such as Mounjaro, including Gogglebox star Amy Tapper.

In an interview with MailOnline, the former Channel 4 favourite said she had combined Mounjaro injections with regular exercise to help achieve her eight-stone weight-loss goal.

“I’m fitting into size 18 clothes for the first time since I was 15 or 16 – it’s hard for me to believe,”

    Tapper said earlier this year.

“It’s changed my life. I do get annoyed when people call it the ‘lazy way out’. I don’t want people to think I haven’t tried — this has been my only option to get this far.”

How to use GLP-1 medication safely

Dr Francesca Testa, from weight-loss support company Voy, told LADbible that people using GLP-1 injections should prioritise protein in their diets.

“Try and include a source of protein during meals such as yoghurt, eggs and lean meat. This will help you stabilise energy levels, support muscle maintenance and keep you comfortably full for longer,”

    she said.

“Those on weight-loss medication can find it harder to recognise hunger cues due to changes in hunger perception, which can sometimes lead you toward quick, low-nutrition snacks at parties or after a couple of drinks, which is not beneficial for your goals.”

Dr Testa also advised people using weight-loss injections to consume alcohol slowly and in moderation.

“Alcohol may affect you differently on weight loss injections. If alcohol is part of your celebrations, sip slowly,”

    she said.

“This helps prevent blood alcohol levels from rising too quickly, keeps calories in check, and reduces the likelihood of late-night snack cravings. Pairing drinks with water can also help pace consumption.”

  • Lupita Nyong’o Shares Heartbreaking Tribute to Chadwick Boseman on Sixth Anniversary of His Death

Lupita Nyong’o Shares Heartbreaking Tribute to Chadwick Boseman on Sixth Anniversary of His Death

Six years after Chadwick Boseman’s death, his Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o has shared an emotional tribute to the actor.

Boseman, who became a global star for his groundbreaking portrayal of Marvel superhero King T’Challa, died from colon cancer at the age of 43. His family later revealed that he had privately been dealing with a Stage 3 diagnosis for four years while continuing to work on major projects.

During that period, Boseman collaborated with director Spike Lee on Da 5 Bloods, starred alongside Viola Davis in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and hosted Saturday Night Live.

    Lupita Nyong’o remembers Chadwick Boseman

Nyong’o became close to Boseman while working with him on Black Panther. Marking the sixth anniversary of his death, the actor shared a tribute on Instagram, writing: “Hold on to those you love who love you back. Tell them you love them. Show them you love them. You’ll miss them when they’re gone.”

She also posted several photographs of herself with Boseman and other members of the Marvel cast, including Michael B Jordan.

Last year, Nyong’o watched a clip from Black Panther for the first time since Boseman’s death and was overcome with emotion. After taking a moment to compose herself, she said: “The grief is just the love. There’s no place to put it. I don’t run away from the tears or the grief. You just live with it.”

Chadwick Boseman’s final message for a sick child

Shortly before his death, Boseman worked with Black Panther executive producer Nate Moore on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children with serious illnesses.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Moore recalled the heartbreaking final text message he received from Boseman. The message was sent during the Covid-19 lockdown, after the pair helped arrange a voice note from T’Challa and a package of toys for a young boy.

“It was during [Covid-19] lockdown, and we worked together to get a young boy a voice note from T’Challa, as well as a package of toys – no easy feat when we weren’t allowed to leave our homes or go to the office.”

“But Chad figured out how to make it work because he cared so intently, and in hindsight, so personally,”

Moore said Boseman’s final message referred to what they had done for the child:

    “‘It broke me, man,’”

“‘But we need to do that for them. People deserve abundant life, special moments. They’ve been through hell battling disease. If we were able to ease their suffering and bring joy for a moment, and hopefully moments as he goes through the bags, then we made a difference in his life.’”

David Jonsson cast as the next Black Panther

Earlier this summer, it was announced that British actor David Jonsson would take on the role of Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jonsson is set to appear in the third solo Black Panther film as the son of Boseman’s King T’Challa. Ryan Coogler is returning to direct, with the movie scheduled to arrive in cinemas at Christmas 2028.

Following a strong reception in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, the Alien: Romulus star told the crowd: “I want to say thank you so much. Thank you, Ryan. Thank you, [Kevin Feige]. Thank you to this amazing family that I honour, [it’s] a privilege and blessing to join.”

“I don’t want to say too much because I want to let the screen do the talking, but believe me, the honour is entirely mine.”

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said Coogler cast Jonsson six months earlier after a “secret meeting” at a hotel.

“He called me afterwards and said, ‘He’s the guy. I felt it. I felt it in my soul. He’s a good man,’” revealed Feige, per Empire Magazine.

Busy Phillipps Responds to ‘Living on Borrowed Time’ Comments After Rare Brain Tumour Diagnosis

Actor Busy Philipps has publicly condemned Globe Magazine over a planned article characterizing her brain tumor recovery as “living on borrowed time.” The 47-year-old star, known for roles in Dawson’s Creek, Freaks and Geeks, and Cougar Town, shared a screenshot of a media request from her publicist to Instagram, denouncing the outlet’s “brazen approach.”

Philipps Responds to ‘Insane’ Media Angle

In a video accompanying the post, Philipps addressed the publication directly, preserving her signature candor.

“The Globe is gonna run a story that I am living on borrowed time. To that I say, ‘Aren’t we all motherf***ers?’”

She continued, laughing in disbelief at the premise of the upcoming piece.

“But really this is insane. I’m not going to [respond]. My doctors spoke [to PEOPLE] and they’re gonna just run an article that I’m living on borrowed time and that some people who have brain tumours don’t live five years?”

“That’s true… it’s not what my journey is but OK Globe, go f*** yourself.”

    Celebrity Peers Offer Support

The comments section quickly filled with messages of support from fellow actors. Angela Kinsey of The Office wrote:

“Good Lord! Ridiculous! Go Busy go! We got your back!!”

Juliette Lewis, star of Natural Born Killers and Yellowjackets, shared a similar experience with tabloid tactics, highlighting the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” pressure of pre-publication comment requests.

“Ugh I remember getting these types of emails about ‘stories’ they were gonna run about MY life that were totally not true that you were damned if you do damned if you don’t,”

“If you give a comment then it looks like you’ve commented and legitimise a total lie and if you don’t say anything many people will believe the totally false story. But Alas, now we have social media and we can talk directly to people!”

    Medical Context: Grade 2 Oligodendroglioma

Philipps revealed in February that she had been diagnosed with a Grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare type of brain tumor, which was successfully removed the following month. As she noted in her Instagram callout, her medical team previously spoke to PEOPLE to clarify the prognosis.

Neuro-oncologist Dr. Alexandra Miller provided details on the diagnosis:

“It is considered malignant, but it has the best prognosis of all of the malignant gliomas,”

“It’s sort of defined as a cancerous tumour based on the ability of the tumour to regrow over time, rather than it looking very malignant under the microscope.”

Following surgery, Philipps does not currently require chemotherapy or radiotherapy. However, she will undergo regular scans to monitor for any recurrence.
