Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Face Selling Pressure After Senate CLARITY Act Vote Fails

Major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and XRP came under fresh selling pressure Thursday after the U.S. Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act, a key piece of digital-asset market structure legislation.

Senate Procedural Vote Falls Short of 60-Vote Threshold

A procedural vote on the bill did not secure the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster, effectively stalling the legislation. The defeat concludes months of negotiations between Republicans and Democrats over the regulatory framework for digital assets.

    Market Reaction Reflects Regulatory Uncertainty

The immediate market reaction underscores how sensitive crypto prices remain to policy developments in Washington. Traders had been monitoring the CLARITY Act closely, viewing its passage as a potential catalyst for institutional adoption and clearer compliance guidelines.

According to the latest market data, the three assets erased earlier gains following news of the vote’s failure, with selling pressure accelerating during the U.S. trading session.

What the CLARITY Act Would Have Done

The bipartisan bill aimed to establish clear jurisdictional boundaries between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for digital asset oversight. It also sought to define when a token qualifies as a security versus a commodity — a distinction that has been central to enforcement actions and industry uncertainty.

Outlook for Crypto Regulation in Congress

With the legislative calendar tightening ahead of the November elections, the path forward for comprehensive crypto market structure legislation remains unclear. Market participants will now watch for potential attachment to must-pass spending bills or renewed bipartisan efforts in the next session.

Clarity Act Fails Final Senate Vote, Senator Bill Says

Senator Bill Hagerty Criticizes Senate Democrats Over Clarity Act Delay

Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) expressed disappointment today over Senate Democrats’ refusal to bring the Clarity Act to a final vote, arguing the decision undermines America’s position as a leader in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. The Tennessee senator, a vocal advocate for clearer digital asset regulations, warned that legislative delays risk ceding ground to foreign competitors advancing in blockchain innovation.

    Legislative Impasse Frustrates Crypto Community

The broader cryptocurrency market remains in a cautious state as traders monitor regulatory developments. Hagerty’s critique, shared via social media and garnering significant engagement, underscores growing urgency within the industry for decisive legislative action. The Clarity Act aims to establish a comprehensive framework for blockchain technology, providing clearer guidelines that proponents say are essential for regulatory certainty.

Political back-and-forth over the legislation has intensified frustration among market participants, who view the lack of clear rules as a barrier to stability in the fast-evolving digital asset landscape. The Senate holds jurisdiction over federal legislative matters affecting financial technologies, making its action — or inaction — pivotal for the sector’s trajectory.

    Market Impact and Investor Sentiment

As of now, the crypto market shows no significant price movements directly tied to the legislative delay, though uncertainty persists. Investors seeking regulatory clarity face continued ambiguity without the framework the Clarity Act would provide. The ongoing indecision adds a layer of risk for traders navigating an already volatile asset class.

    What to Watch Next

Market observers should monitor several developments in the coming weeks:

    • Potential renewed discussions on cryptocurrency legislation in the Senate
    • Increased pressure on Senate leadership to schedule a vote on the Clarity Act or similar measures
    • Shifts in public sentiment and social media discourse that could influence legislative priorities
    • Regulatory actions from other jurisdictions that may accelerate U.S. policy responses

Traders and industry stakeholders are advised to remain vigilant as the situation develops. The failure to advance the Clarity Act may catalyze broader debates about the necessity of a coherent federal approach to digital asset regulation.

SEC Setback as CLARITY Act Fails to Advance in Senate

CLARITY Act Stalls in Senate, Putting Spotlight on SEC and CFTC Crypto Authority

The CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate on September 15, 2026, dealing a blow to legislative efforts aimed at establishing a structured regulatory framework for digital assets. The setback was highlighted by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, who expressed disappointment while noting that existing regulatory tools remain available to provide clarity.

What Happened: Legislative Gridlock Shifts Focus to Agency Action

The broader cryptocurrency market is showing mixed signals against this backdrop of regulatory uncertainty. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have previously indicated they possess the authority to implement necessary rules without the CLARITY Act, which was designed to create more structured guidelines for the industry.

As the regulatory landscape evolves, stakeholders will be closely monitoring how these agencies leverage their existing powers to bring definition to the crypto environment.

    Key Takeaways

    • The CLARITY Act did not advance in the Senate as of September 15, 2026.
    • Brian Armstrong emphasizes the ongoing need for regulatory clarity.
    • The SEC and CFTC are expected to act under existing authorities.
    • Future regulatory frameworks may emerge without congressional approval.
    • The current situation underscores the urgency for clear crypto regulations.

    Market Snapshot: Traders Await Guidance

Market activity currently shows a standstill, with no reported volume or significant price changes. The lack of movement reflects uncertainty as traders await clearer guidance on regulatory developments. The SEC and CFTC’s ability to act on their own authority may prompt shifts in market sentiment once clarity is established.

Regulatory Primer: SEC vs. CFTC Jurisdiction

The SEC is the primary regulatory body overseeing securities markets in the U.S. Its jurisdiction includes enforcing securities laws and ensuring fair practices in financial markets, including cryptocurrencies. The CFTC regulates commodity futures and options markets. Both agencies are pivotal in shaping the future of crypto regulation.

    What to Watch Next

Traders and industry participants should monitor several key catalysts:

    • Potential announcements from the SEC and CFTC regarding new regulations or enforcement priorities.
    • Any clarification from either agency on their stance toward digital assets under existing authorities.
    • Bipartisan discussions that could revive the CLARITY Act or similar legislation, as political movements may influence regulatory momentum.

If the SEC and CFTC begin to clarify their positions on crypto under current mandates, it could significantly impact market dynamics and provide the certainty the industry has been seeking.

Clarity Act Fails to Pass, Sparking Investor Concern

Crypto Derivatives Face Uncertainty After Clarity Act Failure

The collapse of the Clarity Act has triggered significant concern across the cryptocurrency derivatives market, with sophisticated investors warning that regulatory ambiguity may drive institutional capital away from speculative trading products.

Market Reaction: Volumes Vanish Amid Regulatory Void

Trading activity has ground to a near halt. According to market data cited by crypto commentator Pentosh1, derivatives volumes dropped to $0 in the last 24 hours, signaling a abrupt withdrawal of liquidity as participants digest the legislative setback. The absence of trading reflects a cautious stance from both retail and institutional actors reassessing exposure in the absence of clear regulatory guardrails.

    Institutional Hesitation Grows

The Clarity Act was designed to establish a coherent regulatory framework for digital assets, aiming to encourage deeper institutional engagement. Its failure removes a anticipated pathway for compliance, leaving fund managers, market makers, and custodians without the legal certainty required to scale derivatives operations.

Pentosh1 notes that sophisticated investors are worried that institutions may refrain from engaging with speculative derivatives, a dynamic that could amplify price swings as hedging and market-making capacity contracts.

    Sentiment Turns Fragile

Social media chatter has shifted toward anxiety-driven memes and speculation, underscoring a broader loss of confidence. Traders are questioning the viability of leveraged positions and structured products in an environment where regulatory risk is now the dominant variable.

    What Comes Next

    Market participants are now monitoring:

    • Regulatory signals from the SEC, CFTC, and congressional leadership
    • Derivatives exchange responses — including potential product delistings or margin hikes
    • Institutional custody and prime brokerage announcements

Analysts warn that prolonged uncertainty could trigger liquidation cascades if leveraged positions are unwound en masse. The coming weeks will determine whether the market stabilizes around alternative compliance models or enters a deeper retrenchment.

    Bottom Line

The Clarity Act’s failure has injected a new layer of systemic risk into crypto derivatives. Without legislative clarity, institutional participation — critical for depth, stability, and innovation — remains on hold. Traders should prepare for elevated volatility and fragmented liquidity until a new regulatory signal emerges.

  • Gemini Notes Market Impact After CLARITY Act Vote Loss

Gemini Notes Market Impact After CLARITY Act Vote Loss

CLARITY Act Vote Failure Triggers Market Sentiment Shift, Gemini Highlights Trader Reaction

The failed vote on the CLARITY Act has drawn immediate attention from major industry players, including cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, which publicly commented on the implications for market sentiment. The exchange’s social media post highlights the ongoing reaction to this regulatory setback, illustrating how legislative uncertainty affects trader confidence. As the market digests mixed signals, understanding these dynamics becomes crucial for navigating near-term trends.

    Market Reaction to Regulatory Setback

In the wake of the CLARITY Act vote failure, the cryptocurrency market is experiencing noticeable shifts in sentiment. Gemini’s tweet, which reflects a personal observation of the ‘red candles’ following this event, underscores the emotional landscape among traders. Currently, the broader crypto market is showing mixed signals with varying momentum across major assets, suggesting that regulatory outcomes will play a pivotal role in determining short-term price movements. As traders assess the fallout from this vote, the focus is on how it will impact investment strategies moving forward.

    Price Action and Trading Activity

As of now, market activity remains subdued, with no specific trading volumes reported. However, the sentiment reflected in Gemini’s commentary highlights potential shifts in trader behavior as they react to regulatory news. The outcome of the CLARITY Act vote may lead to increased caution among investors, influencing how capital is allocated in the near term. Observers will be keen to see how this sentiment plays out across various altcoins in the coming days.

Context: Gemini and the CLARITY Act

Gemini is a prominent cryptocurrency exchange known for its regulatory compliance and focus on security. The CLARITY Act aims to provide clearer guidelines for cryptocurrency regulation, making its failure significant for the entire sector. This regulatory landscape is crucial as it directly affects how exchanges like Gemini operate and engage with traders.

Key Levels and Developments to Monitor

Traders should keep an eye on how regulatory developments, such as the CLARITY Act, shape market dynamics. The current sentiment could lead to a cautious approach among investors, particularly as they assess the implications for capital flows. Additionally, watching for any potential legislative revisions or new proposals could offer clues about future market directions. The focus on altcoin performance in the context of these developments will be particularly telling.

  • Ethereum Tests $2,434 Support as Sellers Return

Ethereum Tests $2,434 Support as Sellers Return

Ethereum Price Drops 2.7% to $2,446 Amid Pre-Vote Caution

Ethereum (ETH) fell 2.7% to $2,446 on Tuesday, September 15, extending its pullback from the $2,500 resistance zone. The decline came as traders braced for a pivotal U.S. Senate vote on the CLARITY Act, with broader crypto market caution weighing on sentiment.

Session Price Action and Key Levels

ETH opened the session at $2,515, touching an intraday high of $2,519 before selling pressure pushed the price down to a low of $2,431. The move briefly pierced the closely watched $2,434 support level, though buyers quickly stepped in to lift the price back above that threshold by the close.

Earlier in the day, ETH had already slipped 1.07% to $2,492, signaling persistent selling interest. Volume reached 81,970 ETH, notably lighter than the levels seen during the August rally.

Macro Catalyst: CLARITY Act Senate Vote

Investors exercised caution ahead of Tuesday’s critical U.S. Senate vote that could determine whether the CLARITY Act advances to formal debate. The legislation, aimed at providing regulatory clarity for digital assets, requires sufficient senator endorsements to proceed.

Bitcoin also declined ahead of the vote, indicating the Ethereum drop was part of a broader risk-off move across the crypto market rather than an isolated ETH-specific event.

Technical Analysis: Has $2,434 Support Held?

The intraday dip to $2,431 briefly broke below the key $2,434 support, but the recovery to $2,446 suggests buyers defended the area during the session. A brief breach does not confirm a breakdown; the daily close will determine whether the level holds.

According to TradingView data, the momentum oscillator stood at 54, placing ETH in neutral territory — not at an extreme that would typically signal an imminent short-term rebound.

Despite the near-term decline, Ethereum continues to trade above its long-term moving averages, meaning the broader recovery from the June lows remains structurally intact.

    Next Levels to Watch

    • Downside: A daily close below $2,434 with follow-through selling could shift focus to the $2,385 support zone.
    • Upside: A recovery above $2,500 would ease immediate pressure, while a sustained move above $2,520 would signal buyers have regained control.

    Summary

    • ETH down 2.7% to $2,446.
    • Briefly traded below key $2,434 support.
    • Close below $2,434 risks a move toward $2,385.
    • $2,500 remains the first recovery hurdle; $2,520 would confirm buyer strength.
  • CLARITY Act Passage Odds Drop Below 20% as Senate’s 60-Vote Path Narrows

CLARITY Act Passage Odds Drop Below 20% as Senate’s 60-Vote Path Narrows

The CLARITY Act is heading toward a critical Senate vote with no clear coalition capable of delivering the 60 votes needed for enactment. Expectations for the landmark crypto market‑structure bill deteriorated sharply Tuesday, with Polymarket odds of enactment falling below 20% after reaching about 34% during the previous 24 hours.

CLARITY Act Faces Critical Senate Vote

The Senate is expected to vote Tuesday afternoon on whether to proceed with the bill. Clearing that procedural hurdle requires 60 votes, meaning Republicans cannot advance the legislation alone even if all 53 GOP senators support the measure. However, that assumption increasingly looks difficult as Sens. Susan Collins and John Cornyn are among Republicans who have yet to commit. According to reports, Collins has raised concerns about whether the bill could accelerate deposit flight from community banks, one of the financial industry’s central objections to allowing crypto firms to compete more aggressively for customer balances. Meanwhile, Sen. John Curtis plans to support opening debate but has drawn a distinction between allowing the process to continue and backing the legislation itself, saying the current text would not win his vote on final passage. The uncertainty has prompted the White House to intensify its outreach to Republican senators, according to Semafor, as administration officials try to prevent banking‑industry opposition from peeling away votes the legislation can scarcely afford to lose.

    Republican Coalition Wavers

The arithmetic leaves Republican negotiators trying to protect their right flank while finding enough Democrats to cross the 60‑vote line. That second challenge also became harder Monday night. Senate Democrats agreed after a private meeting to send Republicans their own counterproposal. Democrats have since delivered the document to GOP negotiators, though they have not yet publicly disclosed its provisions. Sen. Mark Warner said Democrats who had participated in the negotiations were making another offer after concluding that the latest Republican package still fell short. Ethics restrictions remain a central concern. Republicans had spent the weekend trying to close that gap with what aides described as their final legislative offer, including tougher rules governing financial conflicts involving senior government officials. Those changes were meant in part to address Democratic concerns about President Donald Trump’s crypto interests.

In response to this, Sen. Cynthia Lummis said:

“It’s becoming clear that some Democrats simply won’t get to yes, no matter what we put in the text. President Trump has now agreed to two historic ethics provisions — provisions these very members demanded. We’ve given you everything you’ve asked for, yet you keep holding the bill hostage, demanding more and more and more. It’s beyond frustrating. There’s nothing left to give.”

    Crypto Industry’s Closing Arguments

The crypto industry is now trying to convince wavering senators that Democrats have already secured substantial concessions. Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said the CLARITY Act addresses all seven principles Democratic senators outlined a year ago for acceptable crypto market‑structure legislation, including regulatory jurisdiction, issuer oversight, illicit finance, conflicts of interest and consumer protection. He said negotiators also incorporated 126 additional substantive changes requested by Democrats, portraying the current bill as the result of more than a year of bipartisan bargaining rather than a Republican proposal Democrats are being asked to accept unchanged.

“Democratic negotiators played a major role in getting it here,” Shirzad said. “They should vote for it.”

Ripple Chief Executive Brad Garlinghouse made a similar appeal, arguing that lawmakers had already made meaningful compromises on difficult provisions.

“Perfect can’t be the enemy of good,” he said, urging senators to vote yes.

Coalition Strains and Broader Political Pressures

Those interventions reflect what’s at stake in Tuesday’s procedural vote. The crypto industry has spent years pushing Congress to replace the U.S. regulatory patchwork with legislation that divides oversight responsibilities and establishes rules for digital‑asset businesses. But the coalition that brought the bill this far is showing strain from several directions at once. Democrats remain dissatisfied with the ethics package. Banking groups are pressing Republicans over stablecoin competition and deposits. Some GOP senators are still studying a bill that has grown to more than 600 pages after successive rounds of negotiations.

At the same time, political pressure is spreading beyond the Senate. Semafor reported that some House Democrats who backed crypto legislation earlier in Congress are becoming concerned that major industry‑backed super PACs may not support them in upcoming elections despite their votes. That unease adds another layer to the standoff as crypto political groups decide where to deploy their substantial campaign resources.

    What’s at Stake

A successful procedural vote would not settle those disputes. Instead, it would move them onto the Senate floor, where lawmakers could spend much of the remainder of September fighting over amendments, ethics provisions and banking issues before reaching final passage. However, a defeat could be more damaging, with Lummis saying such a situation would “drive the digital asset industry overseas, leave consumers vulnerable, and sideline American [crypto] leadership.”

Ethereum Price Loses $2,500 Level as MACD Turns Bearish

Ethereum Price Drops Below $2,500 After Failed Breakout Above $2,600

Ethereum (ETH) traded near $2,475 on September 15 after declining approximately 2% over the previous 24 hours, according to data from crypto.news. The pullback followed a sharp rejection above the $2,600 resistance level, where buyers failed to sustain a breakout.

Daily Price Action and Key Levels

The daily chart shows ETH opening at $2,515.72 before ranging between $2,465.60 and $2,520 during the latest session. The token was down 1.65% at the time of writing. Price action remains volatile after ETH briefly climbed above $2,600 during the prior session and quickly surrendered the entire move. The reversal pushed the asset below the $2,500 psychological level and back into the consolidation range that has controlled trading since late August.

Analyst Views: Pre-Event Positioning Ahead of Fed and CLARITY Act

Crypto trader Daan Crypto Trades described the move as pre-positioning ahead of two major U.S. catalysts: the Senate’s CLARITY Act vote and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting. According to the analyst, the initial rally removed leveraged short positions before the subsequent decline forced out traders positioned long.

The pattern shows traders reducing risk before events that could affect both monetary policy and U.S. digital-asset regulation. Failure to advance the bill could produce another move lower before attention shifts to the Fed decision, Daan added.

Technical Analysis: Weak Momentum on 4-Hour and Daily Charts

4-Hour Chart: Price Near Lower Bollinger Band

On the 4-hour chart, ETH has moved below the Bollinger Band midpoint at $2,509.64. The lower band stands at $2,469.41, placing the current price close to its first immediate volatility support. A break below that band would expose the recent intraday lows and the $2,450 area. Buyers would need to recover the midpoint before attempting another move toward the upper Bollinger Band at $2,549.86.

The Average Directional Index (ADX) sits at 17.73. Readings below 20 normally indicate that the prevailing trend lacks strength, suggesting ETH could remain range-bound even as short-term swings become sharper.

    Daily Indicators: Fading Momentum

Daily indicators also show fading momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has dropped to 56.89 from its recent highs and sits below its moving average of 62.14. ETH is not oversold, leaving room for further downside if sellers retain control.

The daily MACD line remains positive at 72.86 but has fallen below the signal line at 90.93. The histogram has turned negative at -18.07, signaling that the momentum behind the August rally is weakening.

Liquidation Clusters Frame Potential Volatility Zones

CoinGlass’s one-week liquidation heatmap shows a concentration of leveraged positions immediately below the market around $2,450–$2,470. ETH’s decline toward that area increases the chance of further volatility if price moves through the cluster.

A stronger pocket of downside liquidity appears around $2,390–$2,410. Failure to hold the current range could draw price toward that zone, particularly if leveraged long positions are forced to close.

Liquidity also sits above ETH around $2,535–$2,580, followed by brighter concentrations near $2,630 and $2,650. A recovery above $2,550 could therefore trigger short liquidations and support another attempt at $2,600. The heatmap does not establish the direction of the next move; it identifies areas where forced position closures could accelerate volatility after ETH reaches those levels.

    Broader Fibonacci Levels

On the broader daily chart, the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement at $2,253.61 remains the main structural support. The next major upside Fibonacci level stands at $2,833.75, but ETH must first overcome the nearer resistance between $2,550 and $2,600.

Analyst Identifies $2,550 as Key Weekly Resistance

Crypto analyst Ted Pillows said ETH’s upside would remain capped until the asset reclaims $2,550 on the weekly timeframe. His chart places the first major support near $2,175 and the next resistance around $2,860 if buyers establish a weekly close above the current ceiling.

$ETH broke above the $2,600 again before reversing all the gains.Until Ethereum reclaims the $2,550 level on the weekly timeframe, the upside will be capped.

The immediate structure provides closer levels for short-term traders. A move above $2,510 would return ETH to the middle of its 4-hour Bollinger range, while a break through $2,550 would weaken the current bearish setup. A close below $2,465 would place the $2,450 liquidity area at risk. If sellers clear that zone, $2,400 becomes the next visible target before the larger daily support at $2,254.

Macro Catalysts: Fed Rate Decision and CLARITY Act Vote Keep Traders Cautious

U.S. macro conditions could determine whether ETH holds its current support. Oil prices climbed above $107 per barrel while the 10-year Treasury yield moved above 5%, increasing concerns that higher energy costs could keep inflation elevated.

CME FedWatch data showed markets assigning a probability above 90% to a 25-basis-point rate increase at the Fed’s September 16 meeting, according to Reuters. Higher Treasury yields can reduce demand for risk assets by giving U.S. investors access to stronger returns in traditional fixed-income markets.

The Senate’s procedural vote on the CLARITY Act adds a separate regulatory catalyst. Until both events are resolved, ETH may remain vulnerable to sharp moves through nearby liquidation zones.

  • Will the CLARITY Act Pass the Senate Today?

Will the CLARITY Act Pass the Senate Today?

Connor Brown, Executive Director of the Bitcoin Policy Institute and former Senate staffer, outlined the stakes as the Senate prepares for a cloture vote today on the CLARITY Act. With Republicans holding 53 seats and two potentially absent, the measure requires 7 to 9 Democrats to cross the aisle to reach the 60-vote threshold. This procedural vote does not decide the bill’s final passage; it determines only whether the Senate can proceed to debate and an eventual up-or-down vote.

    Years of Legislative Groundwork

Brown characterized the vote as the culmination of years of legislative effort, tracing the lineage back to the Token Taxonomy Act and the Lummis-Gillibrand framework on which he worked during his Senate tenure. He described the current text as Republicans’ “final and best offer” to pass comprehensive digital asset legislation before the election, with only a handful of session days remaining.

“This really is sort of a buzzer-beater moment,” Brown said, “for this legislative package and for a clear set of lasting rules for the digital asset industry.”

    Ethics Compromise Breaks Logjam

The provision that stalled negotiations longest—government ethics restrictions—shifted significantly when former President Trump agreed to approximately 80% of Democratic requests. Brown called the resulting compromise “pretty compelling,” noting it extends restrictions to officials’ spouses and grants individual states authority to pursue exchanges and seek injunctions against the Justice Department.

“80% of the way there,” Brown said, “sounds like a pretty good deal for something that otherwise would be 0% of the way there.”

    Congress vs. Agency Rulemaking

Brown framed the vote as a fundamental choice: allow regulatory agencies like the SEC and CFTC to write industry rules unilaterally, or give Congress a direct role in shaping the regulatory framework. With Senator Cynthia Lummis’s updated draft reportedly incorporating 115 Democratic-requested changes, Brown argued the question facing senators today is not whether the bill is perfect, but whether Congress wants a seat at the table or prefers to default to agency rulemaking.

  • Bitcoin Holds Firm as Ethereum Attracts Inflows: Crypto Positioning Analysis

Bitcoin Holds Firm as Ethereum Attracts Inflows: Crypto Positioning Analysis

Bitcoin briefly dipped to $76,700 following the release of fresh inflation data before recovering toward the $78,000 level. According to QCP Capital, this “contained” reaction signals that markets have largely priced in the prospect of a 25-basis-point rate hike.

    Technical Setup Remains Constructive

The firm explained that $BTC‘s technical setup remains constructive at current levels, although conviction is still dependent on the broader market response to this week’s events.

Two Very Different Bets: Bitcoin vs. Ethereum Flows

Bitcoin is trading above a major support zone between $75,000 and $76,000, while resistance sits at $80,000 to $82,000. Ethereum, however, is showing a significantly different flow picture.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs See Outflows Slow

Spot $BTC ETFs recorded $462.7 million in net outflows during the holiday-shortened week. Notably, Friday’s withdrawal slowed sharply to $13.2 million compared with $282.7 million on Thursday, suggesting selling pressure may be exhausting.

    Ethereum ETFs Attract Strong Inflows

Ethereum ETFs, meanwhile, recorded nearly $197 million in net inflows for the week. Friday’s $216.4 million influx helped drive the weekly total higher despite earlier outflows. QCP Capital said that the divergence indicated differentiated positioning between the two crypto assets. Ethereum is facing resistance at $2,500 to $2,550, while support sits at $2,400 to $2,425, with a secondary support zone located at $2,300 to $2,350.

Low Volatility Points to Hedged Positioning

Bitcoin volatility also remains relatively low. QCP Capital stated that the volatility curve is still upward sloping while the 25-delta risk reversal is around negative 3 volatility points. Puts are therefore moderately more expensive than calls, even as positioning remains well below stressed levels. The firm added that traders are staying hedged rather than taking a strong directional position.

    Bitcoin’s Resilience Against Tech Rout

Several factors could influence risk appetite for crypto assets. Oil prices have moved higher following a drone attack that temporarily shut Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline. A prolonged disruption could add pressure to risk assets through higher energy costs and tighter financial conditions.

At the same time, artificial intelligence-linked equities have come under pressure following public discussions about slowing AI development over safety concerns. QCP Capital said that Bitcoin’s relative resilience compared with the sharper declines across technology and semiconductor stocks is a constructive sign for its “uncorrelated positioning.” However, a deeper unwind in crowded technology trades could still spill into crypto through weaker overall risk appetite and tighter liquidity.

Regulatory Catalyst: CLARITY Act Senate Vote

Crypto markets also have a separate regulatory catalyst in Washington. Tuesday’s expected Senate procedural vote on the updated CLARITY Act could clarify the respective roles of the SEC and CFTC. This is expected to strengthen the medium-term case for institutional adoption by reducing regulatory uncertainty, though procedural progress would not guarantee final passage.
