Star-Studded Cast Portrays OpenAI Leadership
The ensemble includes Anora breakout Yura Borisov as OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever and Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk, another OpenAI co-founder. Monica Barbaro steps into the role of Mira Murati, former CTO and interim CEO, while Cooper Hoffman plays current OpenAI president Greg Brockman. Jason Schwartzman, Chris O’Dowd, and Mark Rylance round out the supporting cast.

The trailer centers on a tense exchange between Garfield’s Altman and Borisov’s Sutskever. The dialogue underscores the film’s thematic weight:

Artificial arrives amid a cluster of high-profile projects examining powerful technology leaders. Alex Gibney’s nearly four-hour documentary Musk explores the Tesla and SpaceX chief, while Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning — a follow-up to The Social Network — casts Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg.
Distribution Shakeup and Festival Premiere
The film nearly lost its release path entirely. Original distributor Amazon MGM dropped Artificial in June, months after announcing a multi-year partnership with OpenAI. Neon subsequently acquired the title and slated its premiere for the New York Film Festival.
Release Date
Artificial opens in theaters on December 25.
