Caitlin Clark Reflects on and Ranks the Defining Moments of Her WNBA and NCAA Career
The WNBA’s 30th season is on a brief pause until September 17 because of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin. When the league resumes, all 15 teams will play the final four games of their regular-season schedules during the closing week, with the regular season ending on September 24.
Those final games will determine playoff seeding and help decide the league’s major individual awards. The WNBA MVP race has narrowed to a two-player battle between four-time winner A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark.
Wilson, who withdrew from the World Cup at the last minute for health reasons, is seeking a third consecutive scoring title. Clark, meanwhile, has produced historic offensive numbers, averaging 41.4 points created per game—the highest figure in WNBA history—along with 22.5 points and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game.
Caitlin Clark ranks her top career milestones
With the WNBA season temporarily paused, State Farm, one of Clark’s leading sponsors, released a feature video asking the Indiana Fever star to rank the defining moments of her basketball career. Her list included achievements from her record-breaking NCAA career at Iowa and her early professional career in the WNBA.
Clark said each milestone has a unique place in her journey, but she ranked her historic shot against Michigan in 2024 as No. 1. The basket officially made her the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer among both men and women.
Clark finished her college career in Iowa City with 3,951 points, a record that appears extremely difficult to surpass given her career average of nearly 30 points per game.
She placed winning the WNBA Rookie of the Year award second. The honor followed a record-setting debut season in which she established single-season rookie marks for points with 769, three-pointers with 122, and assists with 337.
Clark ranked her first WNBA triple-double third. She recorded 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists in a victory over New York, becoming the first rookie in league history and the first Fever player to reach the milestone.
From WNBA All-Star highlights to early rookie struggles
Clark’s fourth-ranked moment was her appearance in the WNBA All-Star Game against Team USA ahead of the Paris Olympics. The game became the most-watched WNBA All-Star Game in league history, while Clark added to the occasion by setting a rookie single-game record with 10 assists and helping her team secure the win.
Reaching 1,000 career points in the opening game of this season came fifth on Clark’s list. She acknowledged that the milestone did not feel especially significant at the time because she was not tracking when it occurred.
Clark placed her first professional regular-season game sixth. The contest ended in a difficult loss to the Connecticut Sun, although she scored 20 points and set a WNBA debut record with 10 turnovers.
At 24 years old and playing the most dominant basketball of her career, Clark has ample opportunity to add more memorable achievements during the final stretch of this season and in the years ahead.

The team photos follow an emotional transition into college life. Trump recently acknowledged that leaving home had been more difficult than she expected, despite her excitement about starting the next stage of her career.
“I’ve been, like, literally sobbing,” she said in a recent vlog. “I think knowing I have to say goodbye to everyone tonight, it, like, really, really sucks.”
She added: “I’m excited. It’s just, like, I’m emotional.”
Trump joins the Hurricanes with a strong competitive background. She played at The Benjamin School in Florida, helping her high school team win four consecutive district championships.
Her junior career also includes a runner-up finish at the 2025 Major Championship at Village Golf Course and second place at the 2024 Martin County Junior Open.
Before entering college, Trump faced one of her biggest tests when she received a sponsor exemption into The ANNIKA on the LPGA Tour. She opened with an 83, then improved by eight strokes with a second-round 75 before missing the cut.
“I was definitely more nervous than I expected, but I thought I hit a lot of great shots out there,” she said afterward. “I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots.”
The experience also gave Trump confidence after she saw how her game compared with some of the world’s top players.
“It was pretty cool because I know I hit it far, but kind of playing with the best players in the world and being literally right there or even outdriving on some of the holes, it felt pretty good,” Trump said.
New chapter extends beyond golf
The official University of Miami golf photos come after a hectic move into Trump’s first college apartment. Her mother, Vanessa Trump, helped with the transition, including a marathon Target trip that filled four shopping carts with kitchen equipment, cleaning supplies and other essentials.
The move carried additional emotional weight after Vanessa revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Kai recently provided an encouraging update, saying her mother was doing “a lot better” after treatment and surgery while describing the previous few months as “a little bit of a rocky road.”
With the goodbyes behind her, classes underway and golf practice beginning, Kai Trump’s first official Miami photos represent more than a social media moment. They signal the start of a new chapter in her college golf career.

Antonelli also discussed advice from tennis great Roger Federer, who encouraged him to “always be yourself and be able to enjoy it as well”. The Formula 1 driver said that guidance had helped him adopt a more relaxed approach behind the wheel.
“When you understand that you also have to enjoy it as well, it makes the difference, because it helps you to, I feel like at least in my case, drive more relaxed, enjoy the driving more, feel more the car, and then the performance just comes much easier,” Antonelli continued.
He contrasted that mindset with the pressure of forcing performance and explained how finding positives in difficult moments can support his development.
“Instead of when you’re chasing it, and you’re driving tense, it’s a big difference. But of course, trying to be yourself and always focusing on the goal and always also try to see the positive, even in the bad situations. Even when something goes bad, there’s always a positive. That can be found, and that can help you to grow.”

George Russell “has to win” Italian GP to Keep F1 Title Hopes Alive, Says Former Driver
George Russell must win the Italian Grand Prix to keep his Formula 1 championship hopes alive, former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer has warned.
Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Palmer assessed the title battle after a dramatic Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. McLaren’s Lando Norris won in dominant fashion, finishing ahead of Mercedes teammates Kimi Antonelli and Russell.
Antonelli is set to receive an engine penalty at his home race in Monza, creating an opportunity for Russell to reduce the gap in the championship standings. However, Palmer believes a strong result for Antonelli could put the title beyond Russell’s reach.
“He could win it because the way that he’s been driving, I think Mercedes are the sure-fire favourites for Monza still,” Palmer said of Antonelli. “But when you reference Max’s comeback wins, that’s largely against Checo, isn’t it? Who was a lot further away from Max’s pace than George is of Kimi’s. And George was better in Zandvoort.
“I know he still didn’t put the race together. He had two bad first laps that set him apart. And his race pace wasn’t quite as good as Kimi’s either. But I don’t think in a clean race Kimi will come from 10th or 11th to beat George if George is anywhere near form from pole position.
Palmer expects strategy, safety cars, engine performance and reliability to play important roles at Monza, where Russell will need to capitalize on any advantage created by Antonelli’s grid penalty.
“With strategy differences, safety car involvements, it’s going to be tough on components across the board. Power units are going to be singing. Reliability’s not going to be easy at Monza.
“If Kimi wins in Monza with a grid penalty, he is champion. I’ll go as far as saying that. It’ll be such a crushing blow. He will have won his home race with a load of overtaking, huge aplomb, and it will suck the life out of George to not take points out of him in Monza. George has to win this.”
Antonelli currently leads the Formula 1 standings with 242 points. Russell is second on 183 points, level with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
