Jelly Roll Hits Back at Ozempic Claims After Incredible Weight Loss

Country-rock star Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, has forcefully denied speculation that the diabetes medication Ozempic fueled his dramatic 20-stone (275-pound) weight loss over the past three years. The singer, who recently graced the cover of Men’s Health to document his transformation, addressed the rumors during a guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and in a candid magazine interview.

    Fox News Segment Sparks Response

The controversy originated from a segment on Fox News hosted by Jesse Watters. During a “Trump Derangement Syndrome Tuesday” report, Watters aired a clip referencing Jelly Roll’s recent jokes about former President Donald Trump’s weight. Watters stated:

“Next up to bat, Jelly Roll,” Watters said. “They should put a warning label on Ozempic. Side effects can include increased risk of TDS. If you notice signs like irritability, depression, and trouble sleeping, please see a doctor.”

Jelly Roll Counters with Humor and Facts

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! days later, DeFord refuted the claim directly, noting his weight loss predated the widespread popularity of GLP-1 agonist medications. He responded with characteristic humor before offering a serious clarification:

“Okay, first of all Jesse, I’ll have you know Ozempic is the only drug I haven’t tried. I know it sounds unbelievable, but I lost weight the old-fashioned way: cocaine,”

    he joked, before adding:

“No seriously, I got in shape before the GLP-1 craze started. And I’m kind of proud of the fact that I did it through diet and exercise.”

Despite his pride in the achievement, DeFord acknowledged the surreal timing of his natural transformation coinciding with the rise of medical weight-loss solutions:

“But I also kinda feel like a dude who bought the last horse and buggy the day before they started selling cars.”

From ‘Prisoner to My Own Body’ to Freedom

In his Men’s Health cover story earlier this year, DeFord detailed the severe physical and emotional toll of his former size. He described a life constrained by obesity:

“It was never-ending sadness,” he said. “And anger. I was a prisoner to my own body. Dude, wiping my ass was a problem. Washing myself properly was a problem. Getting in cars. “Every decision I made in life had to be based on my weight.”

He admitted he was “literally” killing himself and felt “ashamed of it.” After failed solo attempts, he enlisted a structured program that provided the accountability needed for sustainable change. DeFord emphasized that nutritional discipline was the cornerstone of his success:

“Just commit yourself to ‘I’m gonna count every calorie and macro that goes in my mouth’,”

    he told the outlet.

    A New Lease on Life

The artist expressed profound relief and joy at his current physical state, contrasting it with decades of struggle:

“I’m loving my body. This is a whole new thing for me, y’all. I’ve been imprisoned to a fat suit for 30-something years.”

Jelly Roll’s journey underscores a narrative of lifestyle overhaul rather than pharmaceutical shortcut, a distinction he remains keen to protect as his public profile continues to rise.

  • NYT Pips Hints and Answers for August 28, 2026

NYT Pips Hints and Answers for August 28, 2026

Pips is the New York Times’ domino-inspired puzzle game, released in August 2025. The single-player game challenges you to arrange domino tiles vertically or horizontally while satisfying conditions in color-coded spaces.

If you get stuck, the game currently reveals the entire puzzle rather than offering individual hints. These step-by-step Pips answers for August 28, 2026, provide partial solutions for the Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulty levels.

    How to play Pips

If you have played dominoes, you will already recognize the basic idea behind Pips. Domino tiles connect to one another and can be placed vertically or horizontally. However, touching tiles do not necessarily need to match.

Instead, each color-coded space has a condition that the tiles within it must satisfy. A space may contain part of a domino rather than the entire tile.

    • Number: All the pips in the space must add up to the stated number.
    • Equal: Every domino half in the space must contain the same number of pips.
    • Not Equal: Every domino half in the space must contain a different number of pips.
    • Less Than: Every domino half in the space must add up to less than the stated number.
    • Greater Than: Every domino half in the space must add up to more than the stated number.

Uncolored spaces have no conditions for the portions of dominoes placed within them.

    Where did Wordle come from?

Engineer Josh Wardle originally created Wordle as a gift for his partner. The game quickly became an international phenomenon, with thousands of people around the world playing every day.

Fan-made Wordle alternatives soon followed, including the battle royale game Squabble, the music-identification game Heardle, and variations such as Dordle and Quordle, which require players to guess multiple words at once.

Wordle became so popular that it was eventually purchased by The New York Times. TikTok creators have even livestreamed themselves playing the game.

What’s the best Wordle starting word?

The best Wordle starting word is the one that works for you. If you prefer a strategic approach, choose a word containing at least two different vowels along with common consonants such as S, T, R, or N. This may help you identify the answer more quickly.

What happened to the Wordle archive?

The full archive of previous Wordle puzzles was once available for anyone to play whenever they wished. It was later removed, with the website’s creator saying the decision came at the request of The New York Times.

The New York Times eventually launched its own Wordle Archive, which is available only to NYT Games subscribers.

    Is Wordle getting harder?

Wordle may feel more difficult, but it is not actually harder than it was when the game began. For an additional challenge, you can turn on Wordle’s Hard Mode.

Here’s a subtle hint for today’s Wordle answer: Adolescent.

NYT Strands Hints and Answers for August 28, 2026

Today’s NYT Strands hints are especially helpful for history enthusiasts. The New York Times’ word-search game puts a twist on the classic format: Players connect letters up, down, left, right, or diagonally, changing direction to form unusual shapes and patterns. Every letter in the grid belongs to an answer.

Each puzzle has a common theme and a “spangram”—a word or phrase that captures the theme and stretches across the entire grid horizontally or vertically. Because Strands provides only an indirect hint rather than a word list, solving it can take longer than games such as Wordle and Connections.

Today’s theme hint is: On this day in 1963.

The answers are adjectives connected to history, and they describe a historic speech.

NYT Connections Sports Edition Today: Hints and Answers for August 28, 2026

Today’s Connections: Sports Edition puzzle should be easier for baseball fans. The daily sports word game, created by The New York Times in partnership with The Athletic, challenges players to find the common threads between words.

Like Wordle, Connections: Sports Edition resets after midnight, with a new set of increasingly difficult words each day. If you want to solve the puzzle yourself, the hints and strategies below can help. If you prefer to see the solution, you’ll find today’s answers at the end of the article.

    What is Connections: Sports Edition?

Connections: Sports Edition is a daily word game available on web browsers and mobile devices. Players must divide 16 words into four groups of four, with each group sharing a common connection.

The categories can include anything from player statistics and team names to schools, countries, and other sports-related references. Although several words may appear to fit together, only one grouping is correct.

Correctly identify all four words in a category and they will be removed from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake, and players can make up to four mistakes before the game ends.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to make the connections easier to spot. The categories are also color-coded by difficulty: yellow is the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, players can share their results on social media.
