    Today’s Connections: Sports Edition puzzle should be a little easier for baseball fans. The daily sports-themed word game from The New York Times challenges players to find the “common threads between words.”

    Like Wordle, Connections: Sports Edition resets at midnight, with a new set of increasingly difficult words each day. Use the hints below to help solve today’s puzzle, or scroll to the answer if you want the solution.

    What is Connections: Sports Edition?

    Connections: Sports Edition is a daily word game launched by The New York Times in association with The Athletic, the newspaper’s sports-focused property. It is available on web browsers and mobile devices.

    Each puzzle contains 16 words that must be divided into four groups of four words with something in common. The categories may include names, nicknames, sports, titles, or other related terms. Although several words may appear to fit together, there is only one correct solution.

    Correctly identifying a group removes its four words from the board. Incorrect guesses count as mistakes, and players can make up to four mistakes before the game ends.

    Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to make the connections easier to spot. The groups are also color-coded by difficulty: yellow is the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, players can share their results on social media.

    If you enjoy daily word games such as Wordle, Hurdle offers five rounds of increasingly challenging clues. Each round shows which letters are correct, misplaced, or absent from your guesses.

    Solving one hurdle unlocks the next round, with the previous answer used as your first guess. That may provide several clues—or none—depending on the words. In the final hurdle, all four previous answers appear as clues, with correct and misplaced letters highlighted.

    Keep in mind that the number of times a letter is highlighted in earlier guesses does not necessarily indicate how many times that letter appears in the final answer.

    How to play Pips

    Players familiar with dominoes will recognize the basic mechanics of Pips. Domino-style tiles can be placed vertically or horizontally and connected to one another. Unlike traditional dominoes, however, Pips uses color-coded spaces with specific conditions. Connected tiles do not necessarily need to match.

    The conditions apply to the tile portions inside each colored space. When a space shows a single number, all the pips within that space must add up to the stated total. In some cases, only half of a domino tile is contained within a colored space.

    • Number: All the pips in the space must add up to the displayed number.
    • Equal: Every domino half in the space must contain the same number of pips.
    • Not Equal: Every domino half in the space must contain a completely different number of pips.
    • Less than: Every domino half in the space must add up to less than the displayed number.
    • Greater than: Every domino half in the space must add up to more than the displayed number.

    Spaces without color coding have no conditions for the portions of dominoes placed within them.

    The complete archive of past Wordle puzzles was once available for anyone to play at any time. It was later removed after the website’s creator said the decision was made at the request of The New York Times.

    Is Wordle getting harder?
