Tony Romo’s CBS Future Hangs in the Balance After Three New Citations From DUI Arrest

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo’s high-profile broadcasting career is on indefinite pause following his July 23 arrest in Wisconsin, just weeks before the NFL regular season begins.

The 46-year-old CBS analyst, who finished his 14-year NFL career with 34,183 passing yards and 248 touchdowns, was placed on administrative leave by network executives on July 31. During Romo’s absence, former NFL superstar JJ. Watt has replaced him on CBS’ top broadcast team alongside legendary play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.

Bodycam footage from Tony Romo’s DWI arrest has been released as the legal proceedings continue.

Tony Romo Faces Three Legal Citations

The legal issues surrounding CBS’ lead NFL commentator intensified Thursday evening after court filings confirmed three formal citations related to the traffic stop.

Local authorities cited Romo for first-offense operating while intoxicated (OWI), an illegal passing maneuver on the right side of the roadway, and carrying open intoxicants inside his vehicle.

Romo’s court hearing is scheduled for September 21, meaning he is expected to remain out of the broadcast booth through at least the first three weeks of the NFL season.

Addressing the latest developments, a representative for Romo released a statement emphasizing accountability: “Tony accepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved. We are working with local authorities to bring this matter to a close, and we are communicating with CBS about next steps.”

Despite the statement, CBS Sports President David Berson has said the network has established no timetable for Romo’s potential return. The analyst therefore remains sidelined indefinitely as network executives monitor the case.

Romo’s extended absence has prompted sports media insiders to question whether he will reclaim his position on CBS’ primary NFL broadcast team. The stakes are significant because Romo signed a historic 10-year, $180 million contract with CBS in 2020, with $72 million reportedly remaining in compensation.

As CBS evaluates its long-term broadcasting plans and Watt steps into the spotlight alongside Nantz, Romo’s status as one of the NFL’s most prominent color commentators is facing serious uncertainty.

  • Who Is the 11-Year-Old Football Player Who Went Viral for His Impressive 1.93-Meter Height and Dominance on the Field?

Who Is the 11-Year-Old Football Player Who Went Viral for His Impressive 1.93-Meter Height and Dominance on the Field?

An 11-year-old football player has become a viral sensation after video footage showed him dominating a youth game with an extraordinary physical presence. Reportedly standing about 6-foot-4 (1.93 meters), the youngster towers over many of his opponents and appears more like an older teenager than an elementary school student.

Viral 11-year-old football player sparks age debate

The young player reportedly competes for the Naples Bears in a 12U youth football league. A highlight video featuring him quickly spread across social media, leaving viewers stunned by how physically imposing he appeared compared with the other children on the field.

In the footage, his size is immediately noticeable. He powers through defenders, shrugs off tackles and creates plays that appear almost effortless because of his considerable physical advantage. Several opponents look tiny beside him, adding to the video’s unusual and entertaining contrast.

The footage prompted widespread reactions from sports fans, many of whom initially questioned whether the player could really be 11 years old. Some social media users joked that he looked old enough to have a mortgage, while others speculated about whether college recruiters or name, image and likeness opportunities might already be interested in him.

Why did the young football player go viral?

Interest in the player grew after Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson joined the conversation. Jackson reacted to the viral footage on Instagram, joking that the 11-year-old looked more suited to an 18U competition than an under-12 league.

    “11???? Bra 18U out there,”

    Lamar wrote.

Jackson’s reaction helped push the striking footage to an even wider audience. However, there is an important caveat regarding the youngster’s reported measurements.

Reports identify him as an 11-year-old Naples Bears player, but the claim that he is exactly 6-foot-4 has not been independently verified. One report also suggested that the listed height may be somewhat exaggerated.

Regardless of whether the precise measurement is accurate, the child is clearly exceptionally large compared with his teammates and opponents. His physical presence has made his highlights particularly eye-catching and turned an ordinary youth football game into a major online talking point.

It is still far too early to predict how his football career will develop. Children grow and mature at different rates, and a physical advantage at age 11 does not automatically translate into success at higher levels of the sport.

  • James Vowles Reveals Williams’ “huge number of projects” to Fix 2026 Problems

James Vowles Reveals Williams’ “huge number of projects” to Fix 2026 Problems

Williams team principal James Vowles says the Grove-based Formula 1 team is managing a “huge number of projects” to correct development mistakes made during the winter that continue to affect its 2026 campaign.

    Williams targeting long-term performance fixes

Speaking in his post-race The Vowles Verdict debrief after a difficult Dutch Grand Prix, Vowles said Williams is restructuring behind the scenes to identify and address the reasons for its current lack of performance.

“As you saw, we announced both driver contracts last week, and it’s hard to put into words what it means to the organisation when that happens,” he said. “But it’s a monumental change. We have made mistakes this winter, which we’re still paying for today, and the drivers are paying for on the car that we’ve delivered on track.

“What was great is when we started to show the future that’s beyond here, one that’s more around the long term, their commitment came to the forefront. And that’s really important to me. It’s important to the team. It’s important to everyone because ultimately we’re here and we know we have a pathway to go, but we’re here fighting as a team.”

Williams ended speculation over its driver line-up before the Dutch Grand Prix, with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz both signing contract extensions. Albon agreed to a one-year extension that will keep him at Williams until the end of 2027, while Sainz signed a multi-year deal.

Although some updated car components are scheduled to arrive later in the season, Vowles said the Williams factory is prioritising fixes designed to improve the team’s long-term competitiveness.

“We have huge numbers of projects, though, in the background to make sure that we’re just digging out what went wrong this winter and fixing for the long term,” Vowles added. “And that’s our commitment today as it will be in six months’ time.”

Williams currently sits ninth in the Formula 1 constructors’ championship with 11 points.

  • Great White Shark Slams Into Kayak, Sending Fisherman Into Ocean in Terrifying Encounter

Great White Shark Slams Into Kayak, Sending Fisherman Into Ocean in Terrifying Encounter

Kayak fishing is one of the most exposed forms of the sport. Without an engine, a large vessel, or much protection from the surrounding environment, anglers experience nature at close range. That connection is part of the appeal—but it also creates serious risks.

A recent viral video captured those dangers when a great white shark struck a fishing kayak, throwing the angler into the ocean during a dramatic encounter. The fisherman escaped unharmed, but the footage shows how quickly conditions can change in waters inhabited by powerful marine predators.

Great white shark strikes fishing kayak

The incident began as a routine offshore fishing trip. The kayaker had cameras mounted on his vessel and was actively fishing when he hooked a fish. As he reeled in the catch, he noticed that a large shark was following it toward the kayak.

The predator appeared to track the struggling fish directly toward the vessel. As the shark closed in, the fisherman reacted to the developing danger. Moments later, the massive animal surged forward and slammed into the rear of the kayak.

The impact overturned the kayak and sent the angler into the water. For several tense moments, he was in the ocean with the great white shark that had just capsized his vessel.

Despite the sudden danger, the fisherman remained composed. He quickly righted the kayak and climbed back aboard before the situation escalated. The video ends with the angler shaken but safe after surviving an encounter that offshore fishermen hope never to experience.

    The risks of kayak fishing

Kayak fishing has grown significantly in popularity across the United States over the past decade. The sport gives anglers access to waters that larger boats may not reach while offering an unusually close connection to the natural environment.

That access comes with significant tradeoffs. Kayak anglers are more exposed than people aboard larger vessels to changing weather, waves, currents, and wildlife. Whether they are navigating rough seas, fighting large game fish, or encountering marine predators, they have a much smaller margin for error. Those risks are especially pronounced in open-ocean environments.

Offshore anglers may face powerful species ranging from giant halibut off Alaska’s coast to marlin capable of towing kayaks for miles. Shark encounters remain among the most unnerving possibilities.

Despite the frightening footage, marine experts emphasize that great white sharks do not actively hunt humans. Great whites are apex predators that can grow beyond 20 feet long and weigh more than 4,000 pounds. Their primary prey includes seals, sea lions, and other marine mammals.

Using highly developed senses, great white sharks can detect vibrations, movement, and electrical signals in the water. Those abilities make them exceptionally effective hunters—and help explain why a hooked fish near a kayak can quickly turn an ordinary fishing trip into a life-threatening situation.

  • Leon Baptiste: Other British Athletes Convicted in Coach’s Sexual Assault of a Minor in Morocco

Leon Baptiste: Other British Athletes Convicted in Coach’s Sexual Assault of a Minor in Morocco

Three former British athletes have been convicted in Morocco in connection with an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a minor by sprint coach Leon Baptiste, BBC Sport has revealed.

Baptiste, a UK Athletics coach and England’s 2010 Commonwealth Games 200m champion, was sentenced to prison after being convicted of sexual assault of a minor. He was initially reported missing in Morocco in media reports published on 14 August, before a BBC Sport investigation revealed that he had been convicted and jailed.

Newly obtained court rulings provide further details about the convictions of five other men who were on holiday with Baptiste.

Two-time Commonwealth silver medallist and hurdler Will Sharman, his brother and former bobsleigh athlete Richard Sharman, former bobsleigh competitor Lamin Deen, and acquaintances Ashley O’Leary Jones and David Tuck were convicted of participating in the enticement of a minor.

The five men said through their lawyers that they were never arrested and did not know about their convictions until BBC Sport informed them.

“William, Richard, Lamin, David and Ashley are shocked and distressed by the circumstances in which they have unexpectedly found themselves. “They reject any suggestion that they knowingly engaged in unlawful or improper conduct. They left Morocco believing they had complied with all requirements placed upon them.”At the time, they understood that they had paid an administrative fine equivalent to approximately £40 and that the matter had concluded.”

BBC Sport understands that police raided a villa in Tamensourt, on the outskirts of Marrakech, after a girl told them she had been brought to the property and had not received money promised in exchange for sex with Baptiste. She also alleged that a housekeeper assaulted her after accusing her of stealing a watch.

Baptiste, 41, was convicted of sexual assault of a minor and initially sentenced to 10 months in prison. His sentence was later reduced to eight months on appeal.

Court documents describe the girl as 16 years old and say she suffered “psychological trauma, sexual exploitation, physical assault and injury, and the violation of her human dignity”.

Court records show that the five men were each given four-month suspended prison sentences and fined 500 dirhams (£40) in June after being convicted of participating in the enticement of a minor.

They were acquitted of a separate charge of inciting a minor to engage in prostitution.

Morocco’s presidency of the public ministry, which oversees prosecutions in the country, provided BBC Sport with the court judgment relating to the group.

“The defendants were in the company of [Leon Baptiste] and were seated at the same table as the minor, alongside her. “They thereby assisted him in deceiving the minor and persuading her to engage in sexual relations [with Baptiste]. This constitutes participation in the enticement of a minor. “The court found them guilty on this count and decided to convict them for these acts.”

The group had left Morocco before the judgment was issued. Their convictions and sentences were upheld at an appeal hearing in July.

In a response provided by their lawyers, the Sharman brothers, Deen, O’Leary Jones and Tuck said they had visited the Montecristo nightclub on the recommendation of their driver and had no reason to believe it was anything other than a reputable venue.

They said they did not know the girl’s age and that some members of the group did not recall seeing her at the nightclub. They also said the villa was very large and that contact between the men and Baptiste inside the property was limited.

The men said they were never present in court, that the proceedings were not conducted in English and that the process was not explained to them.

“What has unfolded over recent months has been a distressing and incoherent saga. “They did not properly understand the proceedings and were completely shocked on being told that they were the subject of a criminal conviction, when that is not how they understood it.”

Companies House records and a biography on one of O’Leary Jones’ social media profiles show that he is a director of a company operating five children’s care homes in Greater Manchester.

Tuck’s social media biography identifies him as a military veteran. A CV posted online lists coaching experience with women’s and children’s football clubs, including Stoke City, Apollon Limassol in Cyprus and Orlando Pride in the United States.

The UK Foreign Office, Home Office and Department for Culture, Media and Sport declined to comment when asked by BBC Sport about the convictions and potential safeguarding concerns.

Other people were also convicted in relation to the case, according to court records. They include the villa’s housekeeper and two security guards, who each received two-month suspended prison sentences and fines of 5,000 dirhams (£396).

The manager of the Montecristo nightclub, where the group met the girl, was sentenced to two months in prison.

A waiter at the nightclub was also prosecuted, as was the owner of the agency that rented out the villa.

The girl, who is Moroccan, was awarded 60,000 dirhams (£4,784) in civil compensation. The payment is to be made jointly by all those convicted, along with court costs.
