Pierce Bronsan Addresses Tom Hardy ‘Mobland’ On-Set Feud Rumors

Pierce Brosnan has finally addressed the persistent rumors of an on-set feud with his Mobland co-star Tom Hardy, dismissing the speculation as a storm in a teacup and praising the British actor's talent and professionalism. The clarification comes months after reports surfaced claiming Hardy had been fired from the Paramount+ crime drama due to behavioral issues, allegations that were swiftly denied by production sources.

Earlier Reports Alleged On-Set Tensions and Firing

Earlier this year, industry outlets including Puck News and The Hollywood Reporter published claims that Hardy had been removed from the production. Reports alleged the 48-year-old actor was frequently late to set and difficult to work with, leaving co-stars Brosnan and Dame Helen Mirren waiting for hours. One unnamed source cited by The Hollywood Reporter went so far as to suggest Hardy had committed career suicide with his conduct.

However, the narrative shifted quickly. Just days after the initial reports, Variety published a statement from a source close to the production that directly contradicted the firing claims.

“Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.”

Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that Hardy would indeed return for a third season of the series.

Dame Helen Mirren Publicly Quashed Feud Speculation

Amid the swirling rumors, Dame Helen Mirren took to social media to publicly support her co-star. She shared an image of Hardy in character as Harry Da Souza on Instagram with a caption that left little room for ambiguity regarding their relationship.

“Love you now and always, Helen.”

When pressed by media on whether she would work with Hardy again, Mirren offered a blunt, affirmative response, further damping down suggestions of a fractured cast dynamic.

Pierce Brosnan: We Are Rock Solid as a Company, as a Family

Speaking to the Press Association at the premiere of Mobland's second season, Brosnan, 73, offered his most detailed comments on the matter to date. The veteran actor, who portrays mob patriarch Conrad Harrigan, characterized the controversy as vastly overblown.

“Oh my God, it was a storm in a teacup, really.”

Brosnan emphasized his personal admiration for Hardy and the strength of the ensemble dynamic.

“I love the dude. I love Tom Hardy. I'm a massive fan of the man's work. Truly.”

“We are rock solid as a company, as a family.”

He also provided insight into the demanding production schedule that leaves little time for off-set socializing, framing the cast's focus as professional dedication rather than personal distance.

“Everyone shows up for work, and everybody's just there on the spot. It moves very fast so it's not like we go out and socialise and go to the pub or anything like that.”

“Everyone goes home to their families and before you know it, you've done 10 episodes.”

Tom Hardy Calls Collaboration a Privilege

For his part, Hardy echoed the sentiment of mutual respect at the same event, describing the experience of working alongside Brosnan and Mirren as a career highlight.

“They're awesome. In many aspects of course I look up to them. Coming up, these are actors that came before me.”

“So to be able to work with them is a privilege, but also to be able to enjoy them, watching them spread their wings with their range now as well, and play against their type in some aspects, and really enjoy that is a beautiful thing to watch as a human being.”

Hardy highlighted the positive atmosphere on set and the joy of watching seasoned veterans continue to challenge themselves.

“These guys are really talented and they're having a lot of fun. That's beautiful.”

“Taking it away as a person, just watching people enjoy themselves and watching a good team work together and having fun.”

“That exists in the Mobland tribe, and Dame Helen and Pierce are of that family so in that respect, not only just to be a part of it, but to watch and observe them still enjoying themselves and pushing the envelope is brilliant.”

With both leads publicly affirming a strong working relationship, the focus returns to the series' upcoming third season, where the Mobland tribe will reassemble for further episodes.

Theo James Responds Bluntly to Meghan Markle’s Potential ‘The Gentlemen’ Role

Speculation surrounding Meghan Markle potentially joining the cast of Netflix’s The Gentlemen for a third season has been firmly dismissed by the show’s leading star, Theo James. The rumors surfaced in late August, shortly before the second season of the Guy Ritchie series premiered, but the actor has characterized the chatter as unfounded.

Theo James Addresses Casting Rumors with Humor and Clarity

When pressed on the possibility of an ex-royal joining the ensemble, James initially responded with a tongue-in-cheek remark. “Yes, Fergie is joining,” he told Town&Country. “She’ll be playing my love interest.”

Adopting a more serious tone, James subsequently shut down the speculation entirely. “No, I think that was mainly a lot of hot air,” he continued. “At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season two, and then season three will happen soon.”

Regarding the narrative direction, he noted the broader vision is established, though specific details remain fluid. “But in terms of story, we have the overarching ambition of where we’re going to go. We’re going to expand the world, go to different countries. But in terms of the minutiae.” He concluded, “I mean, it’s still very much up in the air.”

Origin and Escalation of the Meghan Markle Speculation

The rumors coincided with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s return to the UK from California. Markle, known for her starring role in Suits, was reportedly in talks for the series. The conjecture gained traction when Manda Levin, Netflix’s Director of Scripted Series in the UK, responded to the speculation by stating, “All bets are off.”

However, the narrative shifted rapidly. Within days, reports emerged claiming Netflix had withdrawn the offer due to significant public backlash in the UK. Tina Brown, former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, wrote in a Substack column: “I learned this morning that the casting of Meghan Markle in season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen has been withdrawn.” She added, “The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward. This does not bode well for Meghan’s acting comeback in the UK.”

Cast Members Unanimously Dismiss the Reports

Multiple members of The Gentlemen cast have fielded questions on the topic, uniformly rejecting the validity of the casting rumors. James repeated his royal jest in a separate interview with Extra TV, swapping Sarah Ferguson for Prince Harry. “No. Prince Harry is playing one of my love interests,” he told Extra TV. “So that’s the Meghan Markle thing.”

Speaking to PA, James elaborated on the impracticality of such a casting choice. “I think it’s spurious rumours,” he said. “I think she’d fit in well because she’s actually from part of the royal family. But no, I think the practicalities of that are impossible.”

Co-Stars Label Rumors a Marketing Ploy

New season two addition Hugh Bonneville suggested the speculation served as a brilliant promotional tactic. “I think it’s a genius piece of marketing by whoever just dreamt up that idea.”

Veteran actor Ray Winstone injected humor regarding his own future on the show, stating, “I don’t even know if I’m doing [the third season].” Vinnie Jones, who portrays Geoff Seacombe, echoed James’s sentiment, branding the rumors “hot air.”

    Season Two Introduces Maya Jama

While the Markle rumors dominate headlines, the second season has introduced a confirmed new face: presenter Maya Jama. Her acting debut in the series has reportedly divided audience opinion, providing a tangible talking point amid the fictional casting chatter.
