    Rockstar has released an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix, offering the clearest official preview yet of what playing the highly anticipated game will be like.     Here are the biggest new details from the official GTA VI gameplay presentation.

    Players can pet dogs and interact with NPCs

    Some of the leaked videos offered brief glimpses of this feature, but Rockstar’s official footage confirms that GTA VI appears to be adopting the contextual NPC interaction system seen in Red Dead Redemption II.

    Players can seemingly lock onto people and other characters in the world to perform contextual actions. The available interactions appear to vary considerably depending on the situation.

    The most immediately popular feature may be the ability to pet a dog.

    A possible morality or honor system

    During the video, a small demon-head icon appears in the corner of the screen after protagonist Jason takes an action. A similar detail was visible in some Cyberleek footage, but the official presentation provides stronger evidence that GTA VI includes some form of morality or honor system.

    It is not yet clear how the system works or what benefits and consequences come with honorable or dishonorable behavior. However, the gameplay footage strongly suggests that the feature is part of the game.

    Social media plays a major role

    Social media has become a far bigger part of everyday life since GTA V launched in 2013, and Rockstar appears to be reflecting that change in GTA VI.

    In one sequence, Lucia encounters a man taking part in “the trunk challenge” inside the trunk of a car she has stolen. The footage then shows Lucia driving dangerously while the man hangs out of the trunk, accompanied by an Instagram Live-style chat feed on the right side of the screen.

    This feature could be limited to specific missions, or it could become a broader part of the game’s systems. Either way, the footage indicates that Rockstar is incorporating modern internet culture into the game world.

    New details about the missions and story

    As far as the available footage shows, Cyberleek has not released clips featuring actual missions. Near the end of Rockstar’s extended presentation, however, Jason and Lucia work as security for a wealthy client before fighting armed kidnappers.

    Lucia is a fully playable protagonist

    The leaked videos largely overlooked Lucia, Jason’s partner in the game’s Bonnie and Clyde-esque story. Rockstar’s official presentation corrects that imbalance with extensive Lucia gameplay and confirms that she is a major playable protagonist.

    The footage also highlights how Jason and Lucia may operate together throughout the story. Several sequences show them traveling and carrying out activities as a pair, including gas station robberies and story missions.

    That represents a notable change from GTA V. Although that game featured three protagonists, they rarely interacted directly and did not routinely spend time together in the open world.

    Jason and Lucia will not always remain together, however. At one point, the player zooms out to the map and switches from Lucia to Jason, who is located elsewhere and engaged in another activity. The footage suggests that the two characters can split up when necessary.

    Other gameplay details shown

    The extended video also included several additional features and moments:

    • Driving airboats through a fictional Everglades-style environment
    • Underwater scuba diving
    • Opening a refrigerator and drinking beer
    • Interactive cigar smoking
    • A voice actor who sounded remarkably similar to Stephen Root
    • A slow-motion aiming mode in which enemy weak points glow red
    • Lucia base-jumping from a skyscraper

    Rockstar’s extended GTA VI gameplay video contains a great deal of information, but these were the details that appeared most notably absent from the Cyberleek leaks.

    Latest GTA VI leaks

    Cyberleek does not appear to have released any new footage on Thursday morning. Although the leaks may not be over, the latest available clips were published by the end of Wednesday and include:

    • Strip club: A short clip shows protagonist Jason walking through a strip club.
    • Beach cycling: Jason rides a bicycle along a beach filled with a large number of non-player characters.
    • Video game store: Jason explores a video game shop, an ironic setting given that GTA VI will not be released on disc.
    • Police chase: Jason steals a high-end car and is pursued by police before a brief cutscene introduces the other protagonist, Lucia.
    • Lucia’s prologue: Nearly five minutes of story cutscenes, seemingly from the beginning of the game, show Lucia leaving prison.

    The Lucia prologue appears to be the final GTA VI leak for now. It remains unclear whether Cyberleek will continue releasing footage after Rockstar’s major Netflix trailer arrives at 3 p.m. ET.

    When to watch the GTA VI extended look

    Rockstar Games will present “an extended look” at GTA VI on Netflix today, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. ET. Viewers who cannot or do not want to watch it on Netflix will be able to see the same footage on Rockstar’s YouTube channel at 9 p.m. ET.

    The Netflix website describes the event by stating, “Coming August 27: See an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, the next evolution in the groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto series.

    Rockstar and Netflix have not called the presentation a trailer, however, leaving the exact format unclear. Rockstar’s announcement also did not include new footage or a detailed description of what fans will see.

    What could the GTA VI footage show?

    Fans have been speculating for months about the arrival of the next GTA VI trailer. With the game scheduled to launch on Nov. 19 and very little official gameplay shown so far, the extended look could offer one of the clearest previews yet of Rockstar’s highly anticipated open-world game.

    In recent days, leakers have also shared purported footage online, but this Netflix and YouTube presentation will be the first official look at the game in this format.

    It is also unusual for a major game trailer to debut on a paid streaming service. Rockstar’s decision to use Netflix for the initial broadcast makes the GTA VI reveal notably different from the industry’s usual announcement strategy.

    With just one day to go before Grand Theft Auto VI makes its major official debut of sorts on Netflix, the leaker known as Cyberleek continues to release new footage. Shortly after Rockstar Games issued a statement about the GTA 6 leaks on Wednesday, Cyberleek shared story spoilers for the first time by uploading an extended clip of a prologue introducing Lucia Caminos.

    Over the past week, someone—or possibly a group of people—using the name Cyberleek has shared a steady stream of short GTA 6 gameplay clips. On Aug. 20, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, filed subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord in an effort to identify the leaker. The company soon followed with subpoenas against Google and X Corp. Those filings specifically cited “stolen content,” seemingly confirming that at least some of the Cyberleek videos are legitimate.

    The GTA 6 leaks offer the first reported glimpses of gameplay from the highly anticipated title. At the same time, numerous AI-generated videos presented as “leaks” are circulating widely on social media. Here is a list of everything Cyberleek has released so far.     All GTA 6 leaks shared by Cyberleek

    At the time of publication, Cyberleek had posted 16 gameplay clips and three map screenshots showing different aspects of GTA 6, including glimpses of cutscenes. The leaker initially avoided major plot spoilers, but the latest release includes story details. Proceed carefully if you want to avoid spoilers.

    • Map sneak peek 1: A small, cropped section of the in-game world map showing a location called Dalton Island.
    • Map sneak peek 2: Another cropped map section featuring Tequesta Retreat, Gloriana Key, and Catalan Key.
    • Basketball video: Protagonist Jason Duval throws a basketball into a hoop during a mini-game.
    • Full map: An alleged view of the complete in-game map.
    • Random video 1: Jason drives around briefly before beating up a truck driver.
    • Taser video: Jason drives at night, steals a security guard’s taser, and uses it on him. He then repeatedly kicks the guard while he is on the ground.
    • Junkies video: The clip appears to show a healing drug called Zombix. A tooltip says Zombix’s effects weaken over time if the player uses it too frequently.
    • Plane video: Jason flies a plane over Vice City, with much of the game world visible below. At the end, the player shoots the word “LEEK” into a wall with bullets, suggesting that the leaker has access to a playable build of the game.
    • Hypercar part 1: Jason drives a high-end sports car around Vice City.
    • Hypercar part 2: Jason continues driving the sports car before carrying out an armed robbery.
    • Strip club: Jason walks around a strip club, followed by a short clip from an in-game cutscene.
    • Gas station: Jason causes trouble at a gas station, steals a truck carrying gasoline, and crashes and dies. The clip also shows more of the preceding cutscene.
    • Plane video 2: Jason flies a plane over Vice City at night.
    • Nudist colony: Jason explores a nudist hangout where the NPCs are nude and attacks several NPCs.
    • Nightclub: Jason walks around the interior of a nightclub in a largely uneventful clip.
    • Beach cycling: Jason rides a bicycle along a beach crowded with NPCs.
    • Video game store: Jason walks around a video game store lined with shelves of fictional game boxes.
    • How does Cyberleek drive?: Jason steals a hot rod and evades the police. The clip ends with a cutscene showing Lucia Caminos, the game’s second playable character, for the first time. Caminos talks about someone who “drives like a bitch.”
    • Lucia prologue: A four-and-a-half-minute prologue introduces Caminos and includes minor story spoilers.

    Are the Cyberleek GTA 6 videos real?

    There is no independent authentication for any of the Cyberleek videos, and convincing AI-generated footage is now easy to produce. However, the clips appear fairly credible to people familiar with the GTA series. The games have a distinctive style of movement, and that movement appears to be recreated remarkably well in the videos. Character movement and NPC interactions both look consistent with a modern Rockstar Games title.

    Rockstar Games also acknowledged the leak in a statement, calling it “heartbreaking.” The statement appears to all but confirm that the leaked gameplay clips are genuine.

    What could Cyberleek release next?

    Cyberleek has been running polls on its website that allow people to use cryptocurrency to vote on which material should be leaked next. In recent days, the leaker teased footage featuring Lucia Caminos. On Wednesday, Cyberleek followed through by releasing a short cutscene with Caminos and then an extended look at the character’s prologue.

    Cyberleek had no active polls online at the time of writing. The leaker’s latest comments suggest that more videos featuring Caminos could be released soon.

    Alternatively, fans can wait for official gameplay footage, which is scheduled to debut on Netflix on Aug. 27.

    Mashable contacted Rockstar and Take-Two repeatedly with questions about the leaks and said it would update the story if it received a response.

    Will Lucia be a playable protagonist?

It is a distinctive premise for the series, but Lucia has been almost entirely absent from the leaked footage released so far.

    Although Lucia has appeared briefly in leaked cutscenes, the footage has largely focused on Jason. There is a possibility that Lucia is not playable, but that would be a major disappointment. The main Grand Theft Auto series has not featured a playable female protagonist since it became a major success on the PlayStation 2.

    GTA V included three protagonists, so it is reasonable to expect GTA VI to feature two. Confirmation that Lucia is playable would be one of the most important details in the Netflix presentation.

    New gameplay features beyond GTA V

    Another weakness of the leaked footage is its focus on activities that players have already experienced in earlier Grand Theft Auto games. Beating up civilians, stealing cars and visiting strip clubs are all familiar features after nearly three decades of the series.

    One leak showed a playable basketball mini-game, but GTA V already included tennis and golf. Other clips have reportedly shown vehicles requiring fuel and police officers recognizing changes to the player character’s appearance. Those ideas could add depth, but the leaked footage has not clearly demonstrated how they work within the game’s wider design.

    GTA VI is being released 13 years after its predecessor. The extended look should reveal what Rockstar has developed during that time beyond making beach towels look highly detailed. Will the game expand on the depth of non-player character interactions seen in Red Dead Redemption II? Will it introduce genuinely original systems or activities? The Netflix presentation should begin to answer those questions.

    A sign that GTA VI’s writing has improved

    The most important—and perhaps least likely—thing to see in the GTA VI footage is evidence of stronger writing. The humor in earlier Grand Theft Auto games was once appealing, but by the time GTA V arrived, Rockstar’s abrasive, juvenile and sometimes openly hateful satire of American culture had become difficult to tolerate.

    Satirizing America can be effective and necessary, but the series’ traditional approach has often felt more grating than insightful. More than anything else, the Netflix footage should offer a sign — just one — that Rockstar has changed direction.

    A completely earnest or “woke” GTA game is unlikely, but a story that is more self-serious, heartfelt and focused on its characters would be welcome. Red Dead Redemption II was not perfect, yet it demonstrated a stronger path for storytelling in Rockstar games. GTA VI should follow it.

    After a week of Grand Theft Auto VI leaks, Rockstar Games has addressed the Cyberleek situation in a rare public statement, calling the leaks “heartbreaking.”

    Despite Rockstar’s statement, the leaker known only as Cyberleek appeared unfazed, releasing a fifteenth Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay clip online shortly after the company issued its statement on Wednesday morning.

    More GTA 6 Cyberleek updates have detailed everything leaked so far and what could be next.

    Rockstar said it knows the official gameplay reveal must “exceed your expectations.” The reveal remains scheduled for Thursday on Netflix and is expected to show more of GTA VI’s gameplay, plot and characters than the Cyberleek videos, which have primarily shown protagonist Jason beating up non-player characters and stealing cars.

    With Grand Theft Auto VI scheduled to launch on Nov. 19, Rockstar will hope the leaks ultimately have little effect on the game’s release.

    The nudist colony video appeared to have won the latest poll on Cyberleek’s website. Users can vote in the poll by spending cryptocurrency.

    It remains unclear how much of Grand Theft Auto VI Cyberleek has accessed or how the material was obtained. Although the videos have not been authenticated, subpoenas recently filed by Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, specifically refer to stolen material, apparently lending support to the legitimacy of the leaks.

    Most likely, the leaker has access to an older build of the game that may not match the version Rockstar Games plans to show later this week.

    “90 [percent] of future players don’t spend their time on the internet looking for video snippets. They don’t have the time and don’t want spoilers,”

    he continued.

    “I imagine the teams are a little annoyed about it but not more than that.”

    Former Rockstar director compares GTA 6 leaks with Hot Coffee controversy

    Vermeij also referred to the Hot Coffee controversy, which involved a hidden sex-scene minigame in 2004’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Rockstar and Take-Two settled a lawsuit related to the controversy.

    “I was there during Hot Coffee,”

    Vermeij wrote, describing the incident as a “nightmare” for Rockstar’s New York office. He said it had less of an impact on Rockstar North and argued that the current GTA 6 leaks are far less significant.

    “It looks like gta6 will be phenomenal and sell for the next 15 years or so. The leaks are just a tiny blip,”

    he concluded.
