Will GTA 6 Be on Xbox Game Pass at Launch?

GTA 6 is just a few months away, and pre-orders are already live at the $80 price point. However, if you were planning to access the game through an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you will need to adjust your expectations. Grand Theft Auto VI will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, and the same restriction applies to PC players. This means casual gamers hoping to avoid purchasing a $600 console cannot rely on the subscription service as a workaround.

Will GTA 6 Come to Xbox Game Pass Later?

While a future addition to the Xbox Game Pass library is probable—previous Grand Theft Auto titles have joined the service—any such arrival would likely take considerable time. Furthermore, Xbox Game Pass is implementing strict monthly limits on cloud gaming starting in November 2025, the same month GTA 6 is scheduled to release.

    Understanding Xbox Game Pass Offerings

Xbox Game Pass is a monthly subscription providing online console multiplayer access and a rotating library of games. The $22.99 per month Game Pass Ultimate tier includes over 500 titles, encompassing select launch-day releases, and does not require an Xbox console. However, not all games are added to the service, and major third-party releases rarely appear on day one.

    Take-Two’s Stance on Subscription Services

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games’ parent company), addressed the publisher’s perspective on subscription models during a GamesIndustry.biz live event in 2022.

“We’ve supported various subscription services and we’re happy to do so,” Zelnick said at the time. “Our scepticism has been around making frontline console products available day and date with subscription. That doesn’t make any sense to us, because economically speaking, we don’t think consumers are prepared to pay for that. And we can’t afford to turn our business upside down in a way that doesn’t make sense economically. There always has to be an intersection between what the consumer wants and what the publisher is able to do. And you know, it doesn’t make sense to do that for our properties.”

Historical Precedent: GTA 5 on Game Pass

Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, has cycled in and out of Xbox Game Pass several times—in 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2025—typically remaining for a few months before removal. Its most recent stint ended on April 15, 2026. Notably, GTA 5’s first Game Pass inclusion occurred more than six and a half years after its initial launch.

The Bottom Line for Launch Day

Whether GTA 6 follows a similar timeline remains unknown. For players determined to experience the game at release later this year, the only option is to purchase it outright for play on Xbox or PlayStation consoles.

GTA Online Gets Major Update Amid GTA 6 Marketing Blitz

Rockstar Games Announces Major GTA Roleplay Update ‘nopixel V’ Closed Beta for September 8

Rockstar Games has revealed a significant update for the Grand Theft Auto V multiplayer experience. According to an announcement on the company’s website, a new role-playing update titled nopixel V will enter a closed beta phase beginning September 8. The update targets the dedicated GTA roleplay community, which has long used GTA Online as a platform for emergent storytelling.

    Beta Access and Launch Details

Players who receive an invitation to the closed beta will be able to access the new experience directly through the GTA V launcher, streamlining entry into the updated roleplay environment.

Key Features Promised in nopixel V

Rockstar outlined several major additions and improvements shipping with the update:

    • Enhanced visuals for a more immersive world.
    • Deeper character customization options.
    • A wider variety of money-making activities.
    • Smarter, more reactive NPCs that respond dynamically to player actions.
    • A new casino venue for players to visit.

Focus Remains on GTA Online; GTA VI Online Component Still Unconfirmed

At this stage, the new features appear exclusive to the GTA Online ecosystem. The multiplayer mode remains a critical revenue driver for Rockstar, effectively funding the extended development cycle of Grand Theft Auto VI. Notably, Rockstar has not confirmed whether GTA VI will include an online component at launch or in the future. However, this substantial update signals that the studio intends to continue supporting GTA V‘s multiplayer suite for the foreseeable future.

  • GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: Everything Revealed

GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: Everything Revealed

Rockstar Games has released an official “extended look” at Grand Theft Auto VI, giving fans their most detailed preview yet of the highly anticipated game. The footage arrives more than a decade after the release of its predecessor, following years of speculation, delayed release dates, and leaked gameplay clips.

Rockstar partnered with Netflix to present the preview, and despite exceptionally high expectations, the response from fans has been broadly positive.

    Grand Theft Auto VI characters

The extended look offers the clearest picture yet of the GTA 6 storyline, which follows playable criminals Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Dazed magazine described Duval as “an ex-military drug runner” and Lucia as “a fighter fresh out of prison.” The game will feature a ““a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative,” with players switching between the two characters.

The Netflix footage provides additional insight into their personalities. Jason appears to be a man of few words and says he is more comfortable using a gun than using his words. Lucia is portrayed as both a capable fighter and an experienced criminal.

    GTA 6 plot details

The preview appears to show an early mission in which Jason and Lucia are pulled into Vice City’s criminal underworld. During a botched pickup in an apartment tower, they interact with several characters inside a drug den. The situation escalates when police arrive, leading to a shootout that the pair manages to escape.

Another sequence shows Jason and Lucia working as security for a wealthy client. During an upscale party, armed kidnappers eventually ambush the client.

The presentation, including the gameplay footage, has a highly cinematic style that places a strong emphasis on the game’s story. More detailed plot information has also been revealed elsewhere, although these scenes contain potential spoilers.

GTA 6 graphics and visual detail

The graphics shown in the preview are exceptionally detailed. Character clothing, facial expressions, NPC hair, and the surrounding environments all feature an impressive level of visual fidelity.

The quality is not entirely unexpected given the game’s long development cycle and the enormous expectations surrounding it. Even so, the footage makes a strong impression, particularly in its depiction of characters and the world of Vice City.

    GTA 6 soundtrack and music

Music has always been a major part of the Grand Theft Auto experience, and driving through Vice City while switching between radio stations will once again be central to the game.

Previous GTA 6 trailers featured Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” and The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together.” The Netflix extended look also included music from Kodak Black, Def Leppard, and Phil Collins.

Other artists heard in the preview include Depeche Mode; Birdman featuring Lil Wayne; Captain & Tennille; Cliff Richard; Prefab Sprout; B one El Productor De Oro; Chimbala; Omega; Aluna & Jayda G; Elderbrook & Bob Moses; and The Bellamy Brothers.

    GTA 6 gameplay features

Although the anonymous leaker known as Cyberleek has previously released a large amount of GTA 6 content, Rockstar’s official preview still revealed major gameplay elements that had not been shown before.

For example, the preview includes extensive gameplay footage featuring Lucia as a playable character. Earlier reports had noted the apparent lack of footage showing Lucia in that role.

Previously leaked gameplay also featured a small demon-head icon in the corner of the screen. The new footage suggests that the icon may represent a game mechanic that tracks a character’s morality or honor, although its precise effects remain unclear.

Social media also appears to play a significant role in GTA 6. In one sequence, Lucia steals a car and discovers someone in the trunk doing “the trunk challenge.” Later, the same character rides in the trunk and livestreams while Lucia evades police, with chat messages appearing on screen. The relationship between this feature and the apparent honor system is not yet clear, but social media seems to be integrated into the game world.

    Slow-motion aiming mode

During the mission in which Jason and Lucia protect a client from an armed kidnapping crew, both characters are shown using conventional weapon-aiming mechanics. At one point, however, the game shifts into a slow-motion aiming mode, causing enemy weak points to glow red.

NPC interactions similar to Red Dead Redemption 2

GTA 6 also appears to introduce a new system for interacting with non-playable characters. One example shown in the footage allows the player to pet a dog.

The system appears similar to the NPC interaction mechanics in Red Dead Redemption II, another popular Rockstar Games title.

    Racing and car activities

Racing appears to be a major part of the game. Jason and Lucia are shown competing in multiple environments, including what appears to be a dedicated race track.

Lucia also participates in a dirt-bike race on a dirt track, while another clip depicts drag racing on city streets. Players interested in racing and vehicle customization could have plenty to explore in GTA 6.

    Scuba diving and base jumping

One of the preview’s most striking scenes shows Lucia base jumping from a skyscraper, deploying her parachute, and gliding over Vice City. Another sequence confirms that players will be able to go scuba diving.

    Eating, drinking, and fitness

Dazed magazine reported that eating and drinking will be part of the game, with Jason and Lucia able to gain or lose weight depending on their diet and exercise.

The extended look shows Jason eating while a heart meter appears on screen, as well as Lucia lifting weights. Players can also open refrigerators, drink beer, and smoke cigars through interactive character actions.

The full extended look is scheduled to become available on YouTube at 9 p.m. ET. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on Nov. 19.

  • GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: 12 Details Not Seen in Cyberleak Videos

GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: 12 Details Not Seen in Cyberleak Videos

Rockstar has released an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix, offering the clearest official preview yet of what playing the highly anticipated game will be like. The nearly 30-minute gameplay video was captured on PlayStation 5 and revealed several details that did not appear in the previously leaked Cyberleek footage.

Here are the biggest new details from the official GTA VI gameplay presentation.

Players can pet dogs and interact with NPCs

Some of the leaked videos offered brief glimpses of this feature, but Rockstar’s official footage confirms that GTA VI appears to be adopting the contextual NPC interaction system seen in Red Dead Redemption II.

Players can seemingly lock onto people and other characters in the world to perform contextual actions. The available interactions appear to vary considerably depending on the situation.

The most immediately popular feature may be the ability to pet a dog.

A possible morality or honor system

During the video, a small demon-head icon appears in the corner of the screen after protagonist Jason takes an action. A similar detail was visible in some Cyberleek footage, but the official presentation provides stronger evidence that GTA VI includes some form of morality or honor system.

It is not yet clear how the system works or what benefits and consequences come with honorable or dishonorable behavior. However, the gameplay footage strongly suggests that the feature is part of the game.

Social media plays a major role

Social media has become a far bigger part of everyday life since GTA V launched in 2013, and Rockstar appears to be reflecting that change in GTA VI.

In one sequence, Lucia encounters a man taking part in “the trunk challenge” inside the trunk of a car she has stolen. The footage then shows Lucia driving dangerously while the man hangs out of the trunk, accompanied by an Instagram Live-style chat feed on the right side of the screen.

This feature could be limited to specific missions, or it could become a broader part of the game’s systems. Either way, the footage indicates that Rockstar is incorporating modern internet culture into the game world.

New details about the missions and story

As far as the available footage shows, Cyberleek has not released clips featuring actual missions. Near the end of Rockstar’s extended presentation, however, Jason and Lucia work as security for a wealthy client before fighting armed kidnappers.

Lucia is a fully playable protagonist

The leaked videos largely overlooked Lucia, Jason’s partner in the game’s Bonnie and Clyde-esque story. Rockstar’s official presentation corrects that imbalance with extensive Lucia gameplay and confirms that she is a major playable protagonist.

The footage also highlights how Jason and Lucia may operate together throughout the story. Several sequences show them traveling and carrying out activities as a pair, including gas station robberies and story missions.

That represents a notable change from GTA V. Although that game featured three protagonists, they rarely interacted directly and did not routinely spend time together in the open world.

Jason and Lucia will not always remain together, however. At one point, the player zooms out to the map and switches from Lucia to Jason, who is located elsewhere and engaged in another activity. The footage suggests that the two characters can split up when necessary.

    Other gameplay details shown

The extended video also included several additional features and moments:

    • Driving airboats through a fictional Everglades-style environment
    • Underwater scuba diving
    • Opening a refrigerator and drinking beer
    • Interactive cigar smoking
    • A voice actor who sounded remarkably similar to Stephen Root
    • A slow-motion aiming mode in which enemy weak points glow red
    • Lucia base-jumping from a skyscraper

Rockstar’s extended GTA VI gameplay video contains a great deal of information, but these were the details that appeared most notably absent from the Cyberleek leaks.

  • GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: Release Time Today

GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: Release Time Today

After months of speculation, Rockstar Games is finally set to show official Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage ahead of the game’s November release.

When to watch the GTA VI extended look

Rockstar Games will present “an extended look” at GTA VI on Netflix today, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. ET. Viewers who cannot or do not want to watch it on Netflix will be able to see the same footage on Rockstar’s YouTube channel at 9 p.m. ET.

The Netflix website describes the event by stating, “Coming August 27: See an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, the next evolution in the groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto series.

Rockstar and Netflix have not called the presentation a trailer, however, leaving the exact format unclear. Rockstar’s announcement also did not include new footage or a detailed description of what fans will see.

What could the GTA VI footage show?

Fans have been speculating for months about the arrival of the next GTA VI trailer. With the game scheduled to launch on Nov. 19 and very little official gameplay shown so far, the extended look could offer one of the clearest previews yet of Rockstar’s highly anticipated open-world game.

In recent days, leakers have also shared purported footage online, but this Netflix and YouTube presentation will be the first official look at the game in this format.

It is also unusual for a major game trailer to debut on a paid streaming service. Rockstar’s decision to use Netflix for the initial broadcast makes the GTA VI reveal notably different from the industry’s usual announcement strategy.

Players have until mid-November to save up $100 for the version of the game that includes every feature.
