Mackie transitioned from television studios to the world’s most prestigious runways and red carpets. Among his most famous creations is the “revenge dress” worn by Cher at the 1986 Academy Awards. The daring ensemble featured a very low-waisted skirt exposing her abdomen, a minimal top, and dramatic black feathers adorning her head.
Decades later, another Mackie masterpiece went viral when Kim Kardashian wore it to the Met Gala. The dress held profound historical significance: it was the original garment Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
