Richarlison is one of three Tottenham players Roberto De Zerbi says have asked to leave the club. Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr have also been linked with moves away from Spurs, and none of the three was included in De Zerbi’s match squad for Tottenham’s 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle on Saturday.
Asked about the players’ situations after the match, De Zerbi said:
“Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave.”
Danso came to me two days ago and he said wants to leave and Pape Sarr the same, but he suffered a small injury, but he is almost ready to train.”
“I have very good relationships but if they want to leave, they have to bring the solution, the economic solution, to the club, and they can go.”
Tottenham have spent more than £300m this summer in an attempt to restore their competitiveness after finishing 17th in the Premier League in each of the past two seasons. However, Spurs are bottom of the table after losing their opening two matches against Brentford and Newcastle without scoring.
Richarlison was Tottenham’s leading scorer last season with 11 goals and played a key role in their fight to avoid relegation, which was secured on the final day of the campaign.

Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush joined Tottenham on loan last week and replaced Richarlison in De Zerbi’s starting XI against Newcastle.
Danso could face limited first-team opportunities this season following the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, who will compete for places in central defence. Micky van de Ven’s position was further strengthened when he signed a new contract and was appointed captain.
Sunderland made an offer to sign Danso, who has 36 caps for Austria, on a season-long loan, but Tottenham rejected the proposal.
Sarr’s midfield opportunities have also been affected by the early-window arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Tottenham began a statement summer transfer window by breaking their club-record fee twice in one week.
The 23-year-old Senegal international has attracted interest from several clubs, including teams in the Premier League and Turkish side Besiktas. Juventus are understood to be confident of winning the race to sign him on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
Quinn Ewers has another opportunity to redirect his NFL career after the Miami Dolphins traded the former Texas quarterback to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jacksonville sent Miami a sixth-round pick in the 2028 NFL Draft for Ewers, who joins an offense led by Trevor Lawrence and featuring Travis Hunter.
The trade follows an uneven preseason for Ewers, who also suffered a groin injury while competing for a place in Miami’s plans.
Ewers showed promise late in the 2025 season after replacing Tua Tagovailoa as the Dolphins’ starter. He appeared in four games and made three starts, completing 55 of 83 passes for 622 yards and three touchdowns.
However, his 2026 preseason began poorly. Ewers completed just one of eight passes for 27 yards and an interception against Washington before the groin injury kept him out of Miami’s next two preseason games.
Reports later indicated that Dolphins officials held differing views about whether Ewers should remain on the roster.
“Yeah, I think so. Quinn really hasn’t been able to go very much,” Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley said earlier in the week when asked whether the backup quarterback competition remained open.
“There were mixed views internally about keeping him. There was sentiment in front office for a different no. 2,” Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson wrote.
Jacksonville had been looking for additional depth behind Lawrence and ultimately decided that Ewers was worth acquiring.
“The Jaguars have been quietly calling around on backup QBs and land one with Ewers, who has starting experience,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.
Ewers joins a quarterback room that also includes Nick Mullens, Carter Bradley and Joey Aguilar. The trade could still lead to further roster changes before the season begins.
His arrival also puts him on the same roster as Hunter, giving Jacksonville another young player with significant college pedigree.
Miami originally selected Ewers 231st overall in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft after he led Texas to consecutive College Football Playoff semifinal appearances.
After just one season with the Dolphins, Ewers now gets a fresh chance in Jacksonville to show that his brief spell as an NFL starter was not the ceiling of his professional career.
Bradley Cooper and a major film crew spent five days filming in Monaco for Warner Bros.’ upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel, with production taking place from 24 to 28 August.
Parts of Monaco were transformed to recreate the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, including the famous street circuit and replica vintage Formula 1 cars. Filming took place at several of the principality’s most recognisable locations, including Port Hercule, Avenue Princesse Grace, Place du Casino, Portier and Larvotto.
The untitled film is being shot under the working title Sandcastles. Cooper, a three-time Grammy Award winner known for A Star Is Born, Silver Linings Playbook and The Hangover, is directing, writing and starring in the project.
Cooper and Margot Robbie play the parents of Danny Ocean, the character famously portrayed by George Clooney in the Ocean’s franchise. The cast also includes Wagner Moura, Monica Barbaro, Josh Gad, Vicky Krieps, George MacKay, Lauren Ridloff, Jack Holden and Omar Sy.
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows — his parents,” Robbie teased during a Warner Bros. preview reel at CinemaCon.
“You’ll see them in their prime, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
The 1962 Monaco Grand Prix was won by Cooper driver Bruce McLaren. Lotus driver Jim Clark started from pole position but retired on lap 55 because of a clutch problem. Ferrari drivers Phil Hill and Lorenzo Bandini completed the podium.
Additional filming locations have included Paris and Nice. The film is scheduled to be released on 25 June 2027.

When Toto Wolff met a select group of Dutch journalists for his annual media session at Zandvoort, one topic was how Formula 1 teams can get the best performance from their drivers—and how much freedom a team principal should give a star competitor.
Max Verstappen is the most prominent current example. Red Bull allows him considerable freedom away from Formula 1, including involvement with his own racing team and endurance events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
The Dutchman competes in those events with a Mercedes-AMG GT3, raising the question of whether another F1 team, including Mercedes, would offer a driver like Verstappen the same latitude.
Wolff said the answer depends on understanding each driver as an individual and identifying the conditions that allow them to perform at their best.
“I think every team is different, but I think what I am trying to do is to identify what it is that makes the driver fast within our structure,” Wolff said.
“What kind of framework do we need to provide to extract the best performance of the driver, and part of that is obviously the well-being. And that is something that I am very keen on as well.
“I have never put drivers in a box and have never said this is how you need to be.”
In Verstappen’s case, that freedom includes competing in other racing series. Wolff recalled an earlier example from his time as an F1 team principal: Lewis Hamilton’s passion for fashion, particularly around the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix.
“I remember Lewis Hamilton with his fashion collection back in the day and there was this Singapore race. I remember it was 2018 or 2019, when he launched his Tommy Hilfiger collection,” Wolff recounted.
“He had a fashion show in Shanghai where he FaceTimed us. He was grateful that Mercedes changed from Boss to Hilfiger to allow him to have his own collection. He showed everything and said, look at this, this is my catwalk, this is my collection. I can’t believe it!”
The fashion show in Shanghai took place on 4 September, but Hamilton still had another commitment before travelling to Singapore: New York Fashion Week, where he was scheduled to present his collection in the United States.
“And then he flew from Shanghai to LA or New York, and did it there,” Wolff recalls. “Niki Lauda said to me back in the day, I cannot comprehend why you allow this. We are racing in Singapore next weekend, so how is this even possible?”
The criticism grew when Hamilton’s journey to Singapore was delayed, leaving him due to arrive late for the first engineering meeting.
“Lewis said that he needed to do another stopover in London or so, I don’t even remember. He calls me on Wednesday and says that it will be touch and go, arriving on Thursday for the first engineering meeting.
“I replied, do me a favour, because I’m already getting lots of shit here for you doing a 360 around the world in funky clothes!
“But then he called me again and said, I’m late, the flight has been delayed. So Niki says to me, I really can’t believe how you can allow that.”
Hamilton’s performance in Singapore demonstrated both Wolff’s willingness to protect his drivers and the way Hamilton repaid that trust on the track.
“When he arrived, I said, ‘Lewis, do me a favour. I’ll take it from you here, I’ll take all the criticism from everyone, but just don’t let me down this weekend.’
“Understood, he said, and this is when he had this unbelievable pole position. There was that sensational lap and then he won the race, disappearing in the distance.
“After the race he came back to me and said, that was a good deal, no?”
Wolff said Lauda eventually accepted Hamilton’s activities away from the circuit, provided they did not affect his performance during a race weekend.
“Niki said to me afterwards, ‘I’m never going to criticise it anymore, even if he flies to the moon before a race!’”
Hamilton took pole position in Singapore by more than three-tenths of a second over Verstappen and six-tenths over title rival Sebastian Vettel. The Mercedes driver won the race by almost nine seconds from Verstappen and secured his fifth world championship just over a month later in Mexico.
Lionel Messi has intensified the race with Cristiano Ronaldo to reach 1,000 career goals after another extraordinary performance at the age of 39.
Messi scored four goals and provided an assist as Inter Miami defeated CF Montreal 7-1, taking his official senior career tally to 927 goals. The result also ended Miami’s five-match winless run in emphatic fashion.
Messi’s display was far more than a routine statistical boost. His four-goal performance included two free kicks, while he also created Luis Suarez’s goal.
The Argentine has now scored 927 goals in 1,171 senior appearances. That return is particularly remarkable because much of his career has involved creating chances and controlling play rather than operating solely as a penalty-area striker.
Messi has scored 31 goals in 34 appearances for club and country during 2026, underlining that his pursuit of 1,000 career goals is being driven by current form as well as past achievements.
Cristiano Ronaldo remains ahead after scoring for Al Nassr against Al Taawoun. His official career total stands at 978 goals, leaving him 22 short of the 1,000-goal landmark.
Messi needs another 73 goals, giving Ronaldo a substantial mathematical advantage in the immediate contest. However, the age gap between the two players could keep the race open.
Ronaldo is 41, while Messi is 39. If both continue playing beyond the current season, Messi could have more time to reduce the remaining distance.
Ronaldo also leads Messi in international goals, having scored 146 for Portugal compared with Messi’s 125 for Argentina.
Even so, Messi’s four-goal exhibition against Montreal has added another twist to football’s latest individual race. Ronaldo may be only 22 goals away from history, but Messi’s remarkable scoring form means the contest is far from a procession.

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has identified Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as his preferred target as the club considers adding another attacking player before the transfer window closes.
According to Foday Manneh, sources have confirmed that Iraola holds Minteh in high regard and believes the winger’s qualities could provide the balance Liverpool need in attack.
Lando Norris remains confident that McLaren can make the necessary improvements to its current Formula 1 car and challenge for the 2026 world championship.
Speaking to Sky Sports after announcing a contract extension with McLaren through the end of 2030, the British driver assessed the team’s prospects in the current championship campaign.
McLaren endured a difficult start to the season but has made a significant performance gain following the introduction of upgrades. Norris has since claimed consecutive victories at the Hungarian and Dutch Grands Prix, moving himself into title contention.
“Well, we’re trying to change that. That’s one thing I’m certain of,” Norris explained when asked if the car is in a position to fight for the championship.
“The team is working better than they’ve ever worked before. I think they’re working in a more efficient, harder way, even than the last couple of years. And that level was world championship-winning level. So, it’s not that I don’t think we can win it.

“I’m confident we have a lot of what we need in place. It’s just certain areas on the car that we need to improve. And I believe we can. It’s just a race against time, as always, within Formula 1. But we proved over the last few weekends that we can still win races, and we have very good momentum.
“I always want that little bit more, and I want to be confident that we can improve the car enough to easily say, ‘Yeah, we can fight for this world championship.’
“So, we can easily fight as a team. We just need to improve some things with the car, and I’m still confident we can do that.”
McLaren currently sits third in the constructors’ championship with 263 points, 162 points behind leaders Mercedes. Norris is fourth in the drivers’ standings with 159 points, 83 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

Lionel Messi has quickly lived up to the expectations that followed Casemiro to Inter Miami just over a month ago. The Brazilian midfielder already knew what Messi could do after facing the Argentine in numerous club and international matches. Now, however, Casemiro is enjoying having Messi as a teammate and makes no secret of his admiration.
Following Messi’s latest four-goal performance against Montreal, Casemiro praised both the forward’s ability and his influence on the team.
“This is what it means to have Messi on your team. He showed it at the World Cup. We have to enjoy these moments because he is a player and a person who keeps making history,” he said after witnessing his latest four-goal haul against Montreal.
“What we saw today is something we have to enjoy. We must keep supporting him and competing alongside him because he is still the best. This is what Messi continues to show the world. With him, we really are much stronger,” he added.
Casemiro previously spent years playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at both Real Madrid and Manchester United, during a period when the Portuguese forward was regularly praised and ranked above Messi. Despite that history, the midfielder had made it clear that he did not want to finish his career without sharing a dressing room with Messi.
That ambition became reality on July 22, when Casemiro left Europe to continue his career in the United States alongside the Argentine superstar.
Inter Miami’s latest match also featured a significant contribution from Casemiro. The Herons recorded a historic 7-1 victory over Montreal, and the Brazilian scored his first goal for the club.
Casemiro opened the scoring with a header from a corner kick, helping Inter Miami end a difficult run under Kily González, who replaced Guillermo Hoyos.
