James Vowles Labels Williams F1 Rebuild His “Life’s Journey”

Williams Racing team principal James Vowles has vowed that restoring the Grove-based outfit to a championship-contending level in Formula 1 will become his “life’s journey”. Vowles, who joined the team in 2023, inherited the significant challenge of modernizing outdated infrastructure and rebuilding the squad to recapture its former glory.

Vowles Outlines Long-Term Vision on Team Podcast

Speaking on the official Team Torque podcast alongside drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, Vowles reflected on the extensive rebuilding process currently underway. When answering a fan question regarding building resilience and mental toughness within an organization the size of Williams, Vowles delivered a candid assessment of his mindset.

“There are so many life experiences that are hard that as long as you have the right approach to it, you come out the other side a better person.

“The second is that I am stubborn and persistent and we will be at the level we need to be. This will become my life’s journey to achieve it, but as it is the both of yours [Albon and Sainz] as well, but the reality behind that is that it creates a strength that no one can break as a result of it.”

    Difficult Start to 2026 Campaign

The commitment comes during a challenging period for the team. Williams endured a difficult start to its 2026 campaign, arriving at pre-season testing in Bahrain with an overweight car after missing a private test session in Barcelona. Despite the on-track struggles, the squad secured a major off-track victory by retaining both drivers.

Driver Lineup Secured for the Future

Albon and Sainz both signed contract extensions ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, providing crucial stability. Vowles acknowledged their commitment directly during the podcast.

“Thank you to both of you, but it’ll be an absolute honour to have you by my side and as part of Williams for next year and hopefully many, many years beyond,”

    he said.

Albon has penned a one-year extension keeping him with the team through the end of 2027, while Sainz has agreed to a new multi-year deal. The long-term driver contracts align with Vowles’ stated ambition to methodically return Williams to the front of the grid.

  • Fernando Alonso Hailed as “actual GOAT” After F1 Dutch GP: “Just a machine”

Fernando Alonso Hailed as “actual GOAT” After F1 Dutch GP: “Just a machine”

Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso has once again captured the hearts of motorsports fans, earning widespread praise and the “GOAT” (greatest of all time) moniker after a stellar points-scoring performance at the Dutch Grand Prix. The achievement marks a much-needed turn of fortune for the veteran driver and his Aston Martin team following a highly demanding start to the 2026 season.

The first half of the 2026 campaign proved incredibly tough for the Silverstone-based squad. Prior to the summer break, Aston Martin struggled with reliability and pace, suffering four grand prix retirements for Alonso and seven for his teammate, Lance Stroll. In response, the team introduced a series of comprehensive aerodynamic upgrades at the Hungarian and Dutch Grands Prix to salvage their competitive form.

Before the August shutdown, Alonso’s sole championship point came from a chaotic Monaco Grand Prix, where several competitors were hit with pitlane speeding penalties. However, at Zandvoort—the first race back after the summer break—the legendary Spaniard showcased his class by securing a hard-fought ninth-place finish, adding two valuable points to his total.

F1 Fans React to Alonso’s Masterclass

The F1 community on social media wasted no time celebrating the 45-year-old’s relentless drive. On Reddit, supporters lauded his ability to maximize the car’s potential under difficult circumstances. “Honorary Dutch citizenship for Alonso,” one fan commented on Reddit, while another added: “As soon as he is given even a slightly competent car, he delivers.”

Reflecting on his charge through the field, another user posted: “P18 to P9 on pure pace (and Verstappen crashing out), finally the AM is something resembling a real car.”

The sentiment that Alonso remains one of the finest talents to ever grace the sport was a common theme among spectators. “Actual GOAT,” one posted, and someone else wrote: “You can’t spell Fernando Alonso without G.O.A and T.”

Other reactions highlighted the driver’s uncanny ability to outperform expectations. “He had half a chance of getting 1 point, so he got 2,” noted one fan. Another enthusiast shared their excitement for his future in the sport, writing: “Man, we say it time after time. Alonso is just a machine. Imagine him in a Macca or a Merc. Absolutely insane! I hope he stays for 2 more years and Newey-Honda get their s**t together and give a championship-winning car.”

    Updated Driver Championship Standings

Following his top-ten finish at Zandvoort, Alonso now occupies 19th place in the drivers’ championship with a total of three points. This places him level on points with 18th-placed Esteban Ocon. Crucially, the Spaniard sits ahead of several key rivals, including Yuki Tsunoda—who filled in for Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls for the Dutch Grand Prix weekend—as well as Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas, and Sergio Perez, all of whom currently remain on zero points.

  • 2026 Cleveland Browns Final 53-Man Roster Projection

2026 Cleveland Browns Final 53-Man Roster Projection

The Cleveland Browns open the 2026 NFL regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET. Before then, Cleveland will play one final preseason game Thursday against the New England Patriots and reduce its roster to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET Sunday.

The Browns’ quarterback competition has been the focus of training camp, but Cleveland faces difficult roster decisions at several other positions. Tight end, cornerback and defensive line remain areas of concern, while the team must determine whether it can keep all four quarterbacks on its active roster.

    Cleveland Browns 53-man roster projection

    Quarterbacks (4)

Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, Taylen Green

Keeping four quarterbacks on an active NFL roster is unusual. However, Cleveland is effectively treating Taylen Green’s rookie season as a redshirt year. Given Watson’s struggles, injury history and reception from the home crowd during the second preseason game — when he was met by loud boos — the Browns could keep Gabriel on the 53-man roster as an additional backup option.

    Running backs (4)

Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, Raheim Sanders, Michael Burton (fullback)

The Browns are competing for a third running back behind Judkins and Sampson. Raheim Sanders and Ahmani Marshall are the leading contenders, but Sanders has the edge after running effectively and showing that he can contribute in pass protection. Burton has missed a large portion of training camp with an injury, but he was Cleveland’s top fullback before being sidelined.

    Tight ends (3)

Harold Fannin Jr., Blake Whiteheart, Carsen Ryan

Joe Royer’s roster status is uncertain after the fifth-round pick missed all of training camp for personal reasons. Cleveland could place him on the reserve/non-football injury list to preserve a roster spot at another position.

The position has also been affected by injuries, and the Browns still lack a clear running mate for Fannin, who led Cleveland in receiving as a rookie in 2025.

    Wide receivers (5)

Jerry Jeudy, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, Isaiah Bond, Tylan Wallace

Jeudy, Concepcion, Boston and Bond have established themselves as Cleveland’s top wide receivers. Wallace has earned the team’s trust as a pass catcher and can contribute on special teams, while Corley is a leading kick returner.

Malachi Corley, Gage Larvadain or Luke Floriea could claim a sixth receiver spot because of their special-teams value. Floriea is a second-year player who grew up in a Cleveland suburb.

    Offensive linemen (10)

Spencer Fano, Zion Johnson, Elgton Jenkins, Teven Jenkins, Tytus Howard, Dawand Jones, Parker Brailsford, Austin Barber, KT Leveston, Luke Wypler

Brailsford, a fifth-round pick, appeared set to serve as the Browns’ backup center. However, he has not practiced in weeks or played during the preseason because of an injury. That could create an opportunity for Wypler, a 2023 sixth-round pick who previously appeared to be on the wrong side of the roster bubble.

    Defensive linemen (8)

Jared Verse, Maliek Collins, Mason Graham, Isaiah McGuire, Derek Barnett, Mike Hall Jr., Adin Huntington, Kalia Davis

Cleveland suffered a significant setback when defensive end Alex Wright sustained a season-ending Achilles injury. Even before Wright was lost, the Browns had explored the edge-rusher market and pursued reunions with Jadeveon Clowney and Za’Darius Smith before both players signed elsewhere.

Barnett provides reliable depth, but Cleveland’s front office may need to make another signing or trade before Week 1.

    Linebackers (6)

Carson Schwesinger, Quincy Williams, Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Winston Reid, Nathaniel Watson, Justin Jefferson

Schwesinger has missed several weeks of practice with an undisclosed injury, but the Browns are hopeful that the NFL’s reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year will return soon.

Mascarenas-Arnold made the team last season as an undrafted rookie. He has lined up alongside Schwesinger and Williams in Cleveland’s base defense and appears to have a firm grasp on a starting role.

    Cornerbacks (6)

Denzel Ward, Tyson Campbell, Myles Harden, D’Angelo Ross, Tre Avery, Michael Coats Jr.

Cornerback is another position where Cleveland has depth concerns. The Browns could look to add a veteran to provide stability behind Ward and Campbell. Monken recently highlighted Coats, an undrafted rookie, as a player who has stood out while injuries have affected the position.

    Safeties (4)

Grant Delpit, Ronnie Hickman, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Christopher Edmonds

Edmonds, Donovan McMillon and Daniel Thomas are competing for a roster spot as backup safeties. Edmonds has been higher on the depth chart and has also played multiple roles on special teams.

    Special teams (3)

Andre Szmyt (kicker), Corey Bojorquez (punter), Rex Sunahara (long snapper)

The Browns have had two young punters, Nik Constantinou and Wes Pahl, compete with Bojorquez. However, special teams coordinator Byron Storer has said that Bojorquez’s job is his to lose.

Bojorquez is projected to win the competition, allowing Cleveland to return its kicking unit for a second consecutive season.

  • 2026 Los Angeles Rams: Projecting the Final 53-Man Roster

2026 Los Angeles Rams: Projecting the Final 53-Man Roster

The Los Angeles Rams open the 2026 NFL regular season against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Before then, they will play one final preseason game Thursday against the Los Angeles Chargers before reducing their roster to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET Sunday.

Which players will make the team? Which positions feature the most difficult decisions? And where will the Rams be deepest and thinnest this season?

This 53-man roster projection does not include Aaron Donald, who is currently undergoing a “regimented” process to determine whether he wants to return from retirement. The projection is weighted toward the offense, with six wide receivers, five tight ends and 10 offensive linemen.

    Rams 53-man roster projection

    Quarterbacks (3)

Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett IV, Ty Simpson

After the Rams selected Simpson with the No. 13 pick in April, coach Sean McVay said the rookie and Bennett would compete to become Stafford’s backup. McVay has not announced a winner after two preseason games. This projection keeps all three quarterbacks, with Bennett taking most of the second-team reps during training camp.

    Running backs (4)

Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Ronnie Rivers, Jarquez Hunter

Williams and Corum split carries roughly 65-35 last season, with Williams rushing for 1,252 yards and 10 touchdowns on 259 attempts. If both running backs remain healthy, the workload could move closer to an even 50-50 split this season.

    Wide receivers (6)

Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith, CJ Daniels

Adams led the league with 14 touchdown receptions last season, while Nacua paced the NFL with 129 catches. Whittington and Mumpfield are likely competing for the No. 3 receiver role behind Adams and Nacua.

    Tight ends (5)

Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen, Max Klare

Five tight ends on a 53-man roster would be unusual for most teams and for the Rams before last season, but it appears to be the most likely scenario heading into training camp. Los Angeles ran 331 plays in 13 personnel last season, more than twice as many as any other team, according to ESPN Research.

    Offensive linemen (10)

Alaric Jackson, Steve Avila, Coleman Shelton, Kevin Dotson, Warren McClendon Jr., David Quessenberry, Beaux Limmer, Keagen Trost, Dylan McMahon, Justin Dedich

The Rams have several unsettled positions on the offensive line because of Jackson’s legal situation and the possibility of a suspension. Trost, a rookie third-round pick, injured his hamstring in the Rams’ preseason opener and could miss several weeks. Dedich missed all of training camp while on the NFI list after injuring his hand in early July.

    Defensive linemen (5)

Kobie Turner, Poona Ford, Braden Fiske, Tyler Davis, Tim Keenan III

Donald’s decision on whether to return would significantly alter this group. The future Hall of Fame defensive tackle retired in March 2024. Turner, a third-round pick in 2023, is entering the final season of his rookie contract and could be a candidate for an extension.

    Linebackers (8)

Myles Garrett, Byron Young, Josaiah Stewart, Desjuan Johnson, Nate Landman, Omar Speights, Shaun Dolac, Grant Stuard

The Rams made their biggest offseason addition June 1, when they acquired Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, in a trade. Young is also entering the final season of his rookie contract after recording 12 sacks for Los Angeles last season.

    Cornerbacks (5)

Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, Josh Wallace, Emmanuel Forbes Jr., Cam Lampkin

The Rams reshaped their cornerback group after last season by trading for McDuffie and signing Watson to a three-year, $51 million contract. Lampkin, who spent most of the past two seasons on the Rams’ practice squad, impressed during training camp.

    Safeties (4)

Quentin Lake, Kam Curl, Kamren Kinchens, Jaylen McCollough

Los Angeles has continuity at safety after signing Lake to a contract extension during the 2025 season and re-signing Curl before free agency began. Kinchens, a third-round pick in 2024, could emerge as a breakout candidate.

    Special teams (3)

Harrison Mevis (K), Ethan Evans (P), Joe Cardona (LS)

Special teams was a weakness for the Rams last season, prompting in-season changes at kicker and long snapper. Mevis took over in mid-November, missed only one kick in nine regular-season games and was perfect during the playoffs.

  • Who Is the Secret Manhunter in Lanterns? Let’s Investigate

Who Is the Secret Manhunter in Lanterns? Let’s Investigate

Lanterns has launched a Manhunter manhunt, and the HBO series has already introduced several possible suspects.

As revealed in Episode 2, Manhunters are a synthetic alien race capable of creating entirely new bodies, disguising themselves as anyone and embedding themselves undetected within any society.

Alien Antaan (Paul Ben-Victor) tells Lantern trainee John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) that Manhunters are brutal and deceptive, with the power to wipe out entire species, including Antaan’s own. He says his people lost their world to the last remaining Manhunter. A Green Lantern captured that Manhunter and promised he would be executed, but the alien is still alive and hiding in Rushville.

Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) suspects that his predecessor, Abin Sur, was the Green Lantern who captured the Manhunter—and that the Manhunter ultimately killed him.

Now Hal and John have just 48 hours to find the Manhunter and hand him over to Antaan. If they fail, the aliens will destroy all of Rushville. With so little time to investigate the town’s entire population, the pair may need to focus on the residents viewers have already met. Here are the leading Manhunter suspects, ranked from least likely to most likely.

    William Macon

Garret Dillahunt in Lanterns. Credit: John Johnson / HBO Max

As one of Rushville’s most powerful figures, William Macon (Garret Dillahunt) appears to be an obvious Manhunter candidate. He has built a militia to protect the town from alien threats, complete with advanced technology such as the alien detectors Hal discovers at the football field.

Macon has repeatedly claimed that his precautions are designed to protect humans from colonizing aliens. But they could also alert a hidden Manhunter that vengeful aliens are approaching.

Even so, Macon may be too obvious a suspect and could simply be a red herring. When Antaan described the destruction of his people, he said it happened “quietly.” Macon’s highly visible militia operation is anything but quiet, making him a less likely candidate.

    Sheriff Kerry Kane

Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry Kane in Lanterns

Antaan refers to the Manhunter as “he,” but the alien can take any form and could just as easily be disguised as a woman. That puts Rushville Sheriff Kerry Kane (Kelly Macdonald) in the running.

Kane repeatedly tries to steer Hal and John away from the alien activity surrounding Rushville. She could be covering for herself—or protecting someone she works for.

Episode 2 also reveals that Kane is from Gotham. Her status as an outsider could provide the perfect cover for a Manhunter who came from far beyond Nebraska and embedded itself in the community. If Kane is not the Manhunter, however, the series still has to explain what brought her from Gotham to rural Nebraska.

    Zoe Macon

Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe Macon in Lanterns

Zoe Macon (Poorna Jagannathan) remains one of Lanterns‘ biggest mysteries. She is an alluring figure who begins an affair with John, while her husband appears to know about the relationship without retaliating. That suggests a complicated arrangement or power dynamic that the series is gradually revealing.

Zoe’s unclear loyalties make her a compelling Manhunter suspect, as does her romantic connection to John. When Antaan describes his own encounter with the Manhunter, he asks, “Have you ever been deceived by someone you love?”

The question suggests that the Manhunter does not simply destroy its targets. Instead, it may form deep connections before undermining them. It is too early to know whether Zoe and John are falling in love, but their affair could be part of a larger manipulation. What better way to protect yourself from a Green Lantern hunting you than to get close to him and earn his trust?

    William Macon’s Mysterious Benefactor

Throughout the first two episodes, Macon has said that his militia, compound and advanced technology are all funded by a mysterious benefactor. Macon refuses to identify the person, saying only that the benefactor is generous and determined to keep aliens away from Rushville.

Someone with that level of technology and interest in alien surveillance could potentially be the Manhunter. Hal is convinced that Macon is hiding something at his compound. But what if that something is actually someone—the Manhunter who serves as Macon’s benefactor?

The benefactor could also be hiding in plain sight as someone such as Kane, Zoe or even Macon himself, while concealing the true source of Macon’s wealth. For now, Lanterns offers one clear rule: trust no one in Rushville.

Lanterns is streaming on HBO Max. New episodes premiere Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.

  • Did Lanterns Just Introduce the DC Supervillain Atrocitus?

Did Lanterns Just Introduce the DC Supervillain Atrocitus?

Lanterns Episode 2 revealed the show’s biggest threat: a secret Manhunter hiding in Rushville, Nebraska. The episode may also have quietly introduced another major Green Lantern supervillain.

    Did Lanterns introduce Atrocitus?

Episode 2 marks the first appearance of Antaan (Paul Ben-Victor), the leader of the aliens killed at the Rushville football game. Antaan and his men kidnap Green Lantern trainee John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and explain how the Manhunter hiding in Rushville wiped out their people.

Ben-Victor’s casting announcement described Antaan as “an extraterrestrial devoted to exposing the truth and exacting vengeance against those who wronged his people. Consumed by a deep and unrelenting hatred for the law, he is determined to deliver justice on his own terms.”

Green Lantern fans on social media quickly noticed that the description sounded like another major Green Lantern villain: Atrocitus.

Like Antaan in Lanterns, Atrocitus, once known as Atros, is an alien whose entire sector was destroyed by the Manhunters. He and the four other survivors of the catastrophe dedicated themselves to taking down the Guardians of the Universe, who created the Manhunters in an attempt to establish a cosmic peacekeeping force.

Atrocitus eventually becomes the first Red Lantern and the leader of the Red Lantern Corps. Unlike the Green Lanterns, whose power rings are fueled by willpower, the Red Lanterns channel anger.

    What separates Antaan from Atrocitus?

Antaan’s introductory episode neither confirms nor rules out the possibility that he is Atrocitus. His backstory aligns with Atrocitus’ history, but there are also several discrepancies. His name is the most obvious difference, and he has more than four fellow survivors from his world with him.

Until Antaan abandons his human disguise and transforms into a giant red rage monster, the Atrocitus theory remains unconfirmed.

Lanterns is now streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes premiering Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
