Lando Norris Discusses Long-Term McLaren Future After Committing Through 2030
2025 Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris says he would be “proud” to spend his entire F1 career with McLaren after committing his future to the team until the end of the 2030 season.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract extension with the Woking-based outfit. Speaking to Sky Sports about the possibility of racing into his 40s and remaining with McLaren throughout his career, Norris said he was uncertain how long he would continue competing in Formula 1 but reaffirmed his commitment to the team.
“Oh, I don’t know if I want to get to 40. It’s a big ask to get to 30, so we’ll see. I don’t know what the future holds,”
He added:
“I certainly want to believe what it holds, and I still believe that we can win more as a team and win more constructors’ and more drivers’ championships, and that’s why I want to stay here.

So, if I do end up just doing my whole career at McLaren, that’s something I’ll be so proud to say and carry with me through the rest of my life.”
Norris played down immediate comparisons with the lengthy Formula 1 careers of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, saying his focus is currently on the four-year extension he has just signed.
“I don’t know what point I want to go to as a driver, whether I want to be 30, or 40, or 50. I don’t know that yet,”
He continued:
“So, I’m just very, very pleased to announce I’ll be here for four more years and four more years fighting for wins and championships, hopefully.”
Norris is currently fourth in the drivers’ championship with 159 points after securing back-to-back victories at the Hungarian and Dutch Grands Prix.

Man Utd Pay Tribute to ‘proud Red’ Crash Death Officer PC Matthew Blades
The two sons of PC Matthew Blades, a police officer killed in a crash on Teesside, led Manchester United’s team onto the pitch as mascots for Sunday’s Premier League match against Ipswich at Old Trafford.
PC Blades, described by United as a “proud Red”, regularly attended matches at the stadium. The club paid tribute to him in the match programme, while his widow watched the game with their children.
PC Blades and his colleague, PC Tom Clough, died in a head-on collision on the A66 near Middlesbrough early on 22 August. Their police car collided with a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction. Five occupants of the other vehicle also died.
Manchester United said it learned of the deaths of the two officers “with great sadness”.
“Matthew was a proud Red, a devoted family man and a police officer who dedicated his life to helping others,” said the club in a tribute published in the programme.
Tributes paid across Teesside and football
At Elland Road, officials at Leeds United’s Premier League fixture against Brentford on Sunday wore black armbands. Referee Tony Harrington was a friend of PC Blades.
A minute’s applause was held before Middlesbrough’s Championship match against West Brom at Riverside Stadium on Saturday. Images of PC Blades and PC Clough were shown on the stadium screen.
Tributes were also paid at Seaton Carew FC’s match against FC Hartlepool. PC Blades had coached junior players at both clubs.
Arrests in A66 crash investigation
Earlier this week, 17 people were arrested as part of the investigation into the crash, taking the total number of arrests to 24.
The occupants of the other vehicle, a Passat, also died. They were Michael Robert Cahill, 23; Jacob Matusiak, 23; Makai Saddington, 18; Theo Rae, 17; and Cole Robert Worthy, 17.

Colts Star Keenan Allen Arrested for Driving Under the Influence in Indianapolis
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday in downtown Indianapolis on preliminary charges related to driving while intoxicated, creating an unexpected off-field issue during his first week with the team.
Allen, 34, was taken into custody at approximately 1 a.m. ET after Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers conducted a traffic investigation in the 100 block of South Meridian Street. Police said officers found a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone and noticed signs of intoxication during their interaction with Allen.
According to Marion County jail records, Allen faces two misdemeanor allegations: operating a vehicle while intoxicated while endangering another person, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.
The charges are preliminary allegations, and Allen has not been convicted of either offense. He was being held at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center following the arrest.
Arrest follows Allen’s first game with the Colts
The incident occurred only hours after Allen made his first appearance in a Colts uniform. Indianapolis hosted the Detroit Lions in its preseason finale Saturday, with Allen playing briefly and catching one pass for 24 yards. The Colts lost 25-16.
Indianapolis signed Allen to a one-year contract less than two weeks ago. The move was intended to provide the Colts with another experienced wide receiver as they prepare for the 2026 regular season.
Colts await more information on Keenan Allen’s situation
Allen is entering his 14th NFL season with an accomplished résumé. The six-time Pro Bowl selection has recorded 1,055 receptions for 12,051 yards and 70 touchdowns during his career.
He spent the first 11 seasons of his professional career with the Chargers before joining the Chicago Bears in 2024. Allen returned to Los Angeles last season and finished with 81 catches for 777 yards and four touchdowns.
His experience made him a notable addition to an Indianapolis receiving group that could benefit from another established target. Sunday’s arrest, however, leaves the Colts with an off-field situation to address as the regular season approaches.
The team has acknowledged the incident but has not announced any disciplinary action. The Colts said they are aware of what happened and are gathering additional information, declining to comment further for now.
Allen’s situation remains developing. Any potential effect on his availability or standing with Indianapolis will likely depend on the legal process and additional information that emerges.
The Colts are scheduled to open their regular season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 13.
