Stevie Wonder Announces Detroit Homecoming at Fox Theatre for ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ 50th Anniversary Tour

Music legend Stevie Wonder will return to his Motown roots with a two-night stand at Detroit’s historic Fox Theatre on December 8 and 9, 2026. The performances are part of a 16-city transatlantic tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Songs in the Key of Life,” Wonder’s Grammy-winning 1976 double album widely regarded as his magnum opus. The artist will perform the landmark album in its entirety on both nights.

Tickets for the Fox Theatre shows go on sale at 10 a.m. on September 15, 2026, exclusively through Ticketmaster. Additional U.S. dates, including New York’s Madison Square Garden and Chicago’s United Center, went on sale earlier on September 10.

Tour Schedule: Europe to U.S. Finale

The tour kicks off on October 15, 2026, at Paris’s Accor Arena before crisscrossing Europe throughout October and November. The North American leg begins in November with six shows, culminating in the Detroit homecoming at the Fox Theatre and a final concert at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on December 19.

Detroit History and Album Legacy

Wonder has a deep history with the Fox Theatre. As a young Motown artist in the 1960s, he performed frequently at the venue as part of the label’s Motortown Revues. His last performance at the historic downtown theater was in 1995, making this return a significant homecoming for the Michigan-born star.

“Songs in the Key of Life” stands as Wonder’s defining work — a commercial and critical triumph that produced enduring hits such as “Sir Duke,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” and “I Wish.” A previous 40th anniversary tour in 2014 and 2015 brought the album celebration to the Palace of Auburn Hills and Joe Louis Arena, but the 50th anniversary trek marks his first return to the Fox Theatre in over three decades.
